Animal Crossing was developed and published by Nintendo. There are no other names there. This game was made by Bandai (as you can see looking at the cover). So, no. You are not onto anything there.

When I took a good look at the art style of the characters in the boxart it immediately reminded me of Animal Crossing! I wonder if this game plays the same as Animal Crossing or not. I also wonder if you can play as a Dude instead of a girl.
