I'll try to unpack the ROM with dslazy to see if there's English inside it . . .

Rhapsody is a tactical RPG similar to other Nippon-Ichi games(Disgaea, La Pucelle Tactics, etc.) except this one is super-simplified and very easy. It is also a musical - the characters break out into song. Those songs will almost definitely be in different languages, so you might want to check out both versions.

I heard that the US release will keep the Japanese voices, unlike the psx version. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing for fans of this game.

Actually, I was just thinking that is probably the case. Rhapsody was released by Atlus before NIS had a North American branch so if NIS America is going to release the game they don't have the rights to the English voices or the songs. Kind of a shame, too, because this is one of those rare cases where the ridiculousness of the English cast fits in with the ridiculousness of the game itself.

But even the original was not really similar to the other Nippon Ichi games you mentioned -- rather than focusing on large tactical battles, it was more like a traditional RPG with random encounters that were small-scale tactical fights. And it was very 'traditional' in its tactical combat system, too, unlike later Nippon Ichi titles.

The PSX version had an option for Japanese voices. It was localized by Atlus, Altus almost always leaves in Japanese voices as an option.

Yes, this is normal turn based RPG goodness, not a strategy RPG like the original PSX version.

And the english version will be out on September 23rd, same day as Disgaea.

Dito

They remade the battle style of this game, but the battle is unbalanced again.
well it´s a game to see the story at all XD
