I was thinking that it could possibly be due to a dying SD card. Maybe try checking it with H2testw, or trying it out with another SD card? If it's an issue that other people are getting, then it could actually be something else, especially if injecting a seed via FBI does fix the issue.

Not getting loot is a really specific problem for a faulty SD card to be the source of. Maybe try a ROM/.cia instead. It won't hurt to check/format the SD card, of course, but it'd be a rather lengthy experiment.

No one has complained about this issue before with legit copies that I could find, either on Woodus or the DQ group I'm a part of on FB. I can't imagine people wouldn't be speaking up about enemy chest drops being empty. That's what's throwing me. I was holding out til my cartridge arrived to test before posting, but it's taking far longer than normal to arrive.

Freeshop copies are legit, direct from Nintendo. I might try on my 3DS

Not if you can't read Japanese.... I mean you could try to use a translator or something in real time but that would probably get really annoying. You can 100% memorize the menu, but you'd be missing the story unless you just kind of watch Lol.

Yep, i got it, the op said that the chests where empty on monster drops, you get items, you just cant tell what it is you are getting, i fought in the first area for like an hour and looked at my inventory every time it happened and didn't get one empty chest.

It's gotta be something in the download then, cause my inventory never has changed after a drop.
