ROM Hack Dragon Quest problem NOT AP VERY WEIRD MUST SEE... HELP!?

So i got a copy without the xenom intro, it said patched so i went for it. I loaded the game up and it worked fine. i saved it and took a break. I reload my r4 with r4wood and it says menu.dat missing. weird so i put it in my computer. EVERYTHING IS GONE BUT 1 FOLDER. the folder wont be deleted by even file assassin. it says its 3 mb but it says it using all the memory on my sd card.

been using my r4 for years now, never heard of anything like this. help!?

yeah im gonna have to. i think it had to do with the hack and the r4wood not being compatible.

In a dos command box, type :
chkdsk /f X:

where X: is the letter of your microsd, in your case seems to be L:

This command should fix the FAT corruption.

Probably not.

That's the NDS bricker that's been around for a long while.
Also, that's from 2009 and for the Japanese version.


The problem this user has is a corrupt FAT. You can tell by the "DRAGON Q.UES" which matches the 8.3 filename scheme for short filenames.
"DRAGON Q" is 8 characters. "UES" being the following three letters of "Dragon Quest".

The article Pwnage posted said that the rom overwrites the DS's firmware, not just the SD itself. So, if this is true, you'll need a new DS...

Except it's most likely NOT that.

The article is from 2009, not 2010.
The article is about the (J) ROM, not (U) ROM.
The article mentions the NDS Bricker, OP said he loaded the game up and it worked for a while.


Chances are, this is a corrupt FAT (File Allocation Table) issue.
Read my post above about the file name format (DRAGON Q.UES).
