Is there any way to convert Japanese names to English and have them be readable? When I try editing my names in the program and using them in the US version, they come out as gibberish. I tried saving the game in the US version with the gibberish names and opening that save in the editor, but they came out right in the editor, but not the game.

I don't think that's even going to be possible :x But don't mind me, let's wait for the translator's reply.

Here's an alternative you can use:

Has anyone taken a look at the Treasure Map page of the editor yet?

I'm going to try and see what I can figure out from it through trail & error / List and info from the Chinese site, but I cant seem to get ahold of anyone I know who speaks/reads Chinese or Japanese fluently. Curse my luck

my most fluent friends are in hong kong.

Also, Thanks for all the work so far~

I was actually wasting time seeing if I could figure that out yesterday(I know, I should of finished the items, but I was interested to see if I can do that). It's going to be possible, however running this through a debugger and looking at how it's pulling the string ends up with it giving me a different encoding than what is shown in the post. What the editor is pulling up has A-Z at 0x12-0x2B and a-z at 0x2c-0x45, this is true for the profile message and names. However the wifi shop message comes up in normal formatting>.< It'll take a bit of work to rework the IL for this, so that'll be one of the things I do last.

EDIT: As it is now, the names and profile message will always be gibberish in the US version if you use the editor to change it(well, unless you know the characters like use alt+decimal number to type it), so Firalta(my characters name) turns out to be ?4=,7?, which I don't expect anyone to do.

Anywho, Im going to see if I can finish the items tonight.

I think I may know a workaround to that problem. I haven't tried it, but it makes sense in my head.

Say your main character is who you want to change the name for.
Now if we went to the inn, and made a scrap character we don't plan to use with the name we want on our main character. Then, save and open the save in the editor. THEN, copy the gibberish from the name of the character we created with the name we want and pasted it over the gibberish in the slot for the main character's name, would that work?

Just a suggestion, and yeah I know it really doesn't solve the problem, but it'll be a simple enough solution if it works.

I tried using the cheat codes to no avail, I had a patched version of the ROM. Downloaded the clean one, which didn't work with the current firmware of my card. Tried updating to the new 3.0OB1 and now it's causing all sorts of shit. Also tried using the whole alt+# code thing, doesn't seem to have worked on the one attempt that let me actually load the game. So I'm either stuck waiting on someone to change the save editor itself or a firmware update from EZ-Flash.

I'll see what I can do. Seems the saving of a new string has issues as well...it's going to take a bit to fix, but it's doable. So you really can't do anything to your names>.< The alt thing on my end was a guess, but meh>.

Hate to double post, but I'm going to go ahead and update the editor.

Changes:
  • Did a few edits to existing translations to fit better with US copy of game
  • Translated Wrists, Legs, Feet, and Important Item names
  • Items tab, Wardrobe tab, Item List tab, and Alchemy Tabs are all basically done
  • Translated the three checkboxes in the profile section
List of things that need to be done off the top of my head(there's probably more):
  • Head and Torso armor needs names translated
  • Skill lists need to be translated
  • Inn, Quest, Monster, Accolades, Treasure, and Wifi Shop tabs need to be translated
  • Fix string error
  • Dialog box fixes(Quit without saving, load failed, etc)
  • Cosmetic fixes
  • Save Locations
  • Profile Countries
Have at ya'll. Anywho, bed time for me:)

question, i dunno if u got around to doing the quest part yet but is there any options there to set the quest so u can turn it in? i have real bad luck with a certain quest, so yeah......

Are the downloadable quests for this game available if you play the game on a flash cart?

Also, I hear that the DLC is actually already on the game cart and that the download is simply a key to unlock it. Does this mean theoretically it would be possible to access any of these quests through the use of a cheat device such as action replay?

Dose anyone get error like this?
I don't really see an error. Names are garbled because strings are a bit different on the us copy. The labels are off because I haven't cleaned up their positions yet.

I am convert the save game into Acekard RPG | EZFlash V raw format 512kb, with Shunyweb Savegames Converter.

I can confirm the quests will be given from wifi even if you play on a flashcart. I have not completed said quest seeing as I'm a couple towns from getting to upover, but the dlc quest list is in fact there.

Also, that second question is likely the case, that's how pokemon works as well more or less. And if its not available in the game, which I doubt, you can use this editor to get what you want anyhow...

I'm a lurker and very rarely post. However, I have to express my thanks for the translation work on this program and I hope you guys will see the fruits of your labor.
