Hacking Question Downloading switch firmware?

I know you can easily update the switch directly, but I was wondering if there was a way to manually download the firmware upgrade.

I would like to see if I can try and do some analysis on it.

That's not what you want.


I'm not sure, but i think currently its not possible to just download the update trough any software.

I presume that it just downloading it from some url, running the switch through a proxy you could probably find it out. But I do not want to do it on my own switch just cause I want to keep the original firmware that was there.
