I looked through all the emulator lists, and didn't see anything. As there is a huge list of DOS games out there, I would really love to get back to a lot of the games that I played as a child.

If there isn't one out there, would the ds be able to handle one?

I heard there was some attempt made to port DosBox to the Nintendo DS, but it was too slow to be at least usable for games.

A better solution would be to port a game directly to the Nintendo DS, like QuakeDS or Duke3DS.

Yes there is a preliminary proof-of-concept port of DOSbox. No it's not really all that usable. I've managed to run Visicalc (the first ever major spreadsheet program) and a word processor, but none of my games played correctly. Apparently there is at least one game that works, but you have to rely on movement alone since the keys are not re-mappable. Plus it runs at 1 fps, if that.

Since the DS processor is relatively slow. Even for its time, seeing as PSP has a faster one. DOS emulators aren't too practical.

Porting or remaking the game for DS would lead to much better prerformance.

The DOS emu for DS is a slow and buggy emulator.
People have ported the engines for some games however =D

For the SCUMM games, use ScummVM which I have used to run Sam and Max and it runs well
For Doom and Quake use DoomDS and QuakeDS respectively
