I bought the US version of FE:TH (cart) and wanted to update it, but find out that I just got banned. I know I can download update files online but all the ones I find for this game are from the EUR version. Are they compatible with the US version? What about the DLCs?
Thank you.

If both games have the same TitleId, then it will work.
FE:TH is region free, there is no USA/EUR/JPN/HK/Asia version...
I thought region free simply meant that you could play a game from another region without issue, but that doesn't mean there is no different region?

The Switch is region free, but most Major Switch games are also region free, they contain all languages and no different version exists.
You can see this on the TitleId, if USA, EUR and JPN have the same title id, then it's region free, if it is different, then it's not.
Example:

Dragon Quest Builders 2:
JPN version is: 010050000705E000
International (Multi 5) version is: 010042000A986000

Fire Emblem: Three Houses only has 1 TitleId: 010055D009F78000

I see, thank you for the explanation!

Technically only 2 should exist, the sha256 for the eshop and for the xci version. But no one checks these...

Most people only look at the MD5 of the NSP and this is why there are many different ones, NSP has a variable format, different tools, different checksums.
