If it does, could someone explain to me how to install it? I'm a total idiot. I just got my flashcart and DS Lite. Do I need to copy any moonshell files from the CD or can I just go download the latest version?

Moonshell is not required. Yes, you can download the latest version and install it on the Simply. Just download it, extract it, run the installer, and select the R4 DLDI driver when it asks.

If you want Moonshell to start when you activate the middle button on the Simply's menu, you have to rename the .nds file to "_DS_MSHL.NDS" and place it in the root of the microSD card. If you want the middle button to start a different program, rename the .nds file for any other homebrew app to "_DS_MSHL.NDS" and that app will start when you activate the middle button.

Don't forget though, it is very important to have a folder called "moonshl" in the root of your memory card. The folder will be produced along with the binary (the moon shell file with the .nds extention) after running the Moonshell setup. So, as Destructobot has mentioned, copy the binary and the moonshl folder to the root, and rename your binary to _DS_MSHL.NDS

Without the moonshl folder, your moonshell will only be able to play .mp3 files. It will not be able to serve to its fullest potential (features such as skinning and playing .dpg video files will be disabled) according to my experience.

And yes, download the latest version (1.71 if I'm not wrong). And don't forget to get an updated reset.mse file somewhere in one of the forums of GBATemp.net to enable soft reest. Copy reset.mse to the moonshl folder, and you're good to go.

EDIT: Here's a Moonshell tutorial/guide, made by onekelly. http://scdev.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6760
