Hardware Does Elgato depend more on CPU or GPU

So I have an EliteBook 8470P with a 7570M and a Dual Core i5. I'm trying to get good footage out of my Elgato and save it to my 4TB External HDD. When the settings are cranked it seems to run fine but when I open the file in Windows It shows it was at 18 frames per second and is overall a bit jumpy. I did notice on task manager that the CPU is at 88-92% but not pinned at 100% which made me think that it was doing it but just using a lot of CPU resources. The CPU is swappable to something like a 3870QM and I'm wondering exactly what the bottleneck is. If its the GPU is screwed but if its a CPU intensive task then I could theoretically swap it out for a better one. I am also using Windows 7 and that in of itself I plan on upgrading soon.

If my GPU is the potential bottleneck then Please let me know as i will have to rethink my summer plans

It's CPU bound. Elgato lists a Quad Core CPU as a requirement.. And I see why.

so my 7570M isnt nessisarly bottlenecking here. do clock speeds matter too?

A decent quad core newer than 2012 should be fine. Upping your clock speeds may help, but I feel it'll still fall short.

well Its a Ivy Bridge so maybe if i find a sacrficial chip at work ill put it in thank you
