Do you need internet for saviine?

Hello. I was wondering this, is the saviine app dependent on the internet? I’m asking in case if at some point in the future, saviine is shut down and is no longer usable. If it is internet dependent, is there a way of backing up saves directly to a usb stick on the wii u?

I don't know if Saviine is dependant on the internet, but there is a better tool that wouldn't have issues. It is called SaveMii which you can see in this thread here. You can backup to your SD card and then transfer to a USB Stick if you want. You can have 256 save backups per game which should be enough and even then, its probably easy to transfer said saves once you figure out the game's ID.
