As a medical student, and one the first thing that you learn is that each cancer is different. It's true that cells multiply indefinitely, but each type of cancer is due to a specific gene factor (whether is by inhibition of a gene that control cell division, or a gene that induce cell division). So, in order to create a medicine to cure cancer, one must target the malfunctioned gene. The problem with these, gene are no easy to treat since they are found inside of the DNA, which is cell of our body have. So in addition to target the gene, you must target the specific cell affected, which is difficult. Disease such as Duchenne or Osteogenesis are example of disease with malfunction gene, that does not have a cure.

But, this not means that a type of cancer cannot be cure. Each year, research and technology are advancing, making more accessible to create alternative way to cure cancer. So addressing the title of the post, yeah, a cure can be already made but only for specific gene type of cancer (example, a Breast cancer with Her2 gene defect is different from BRAC gene defect, so a cure can only work for the desire gene).

A cure for cancer is the last thing we need. The world is over populated as it is and creating a cure for cancer would make the world more crowded than it already is. We should have a pause in medical advances until we figure out how to solve over population

But because of how lucrative it is to treat the disease rather than outright cure it there is no incentive in releasing such info to the public.

I understand how cancer is and how there is no all in one cure for all type but hypothetically if there was would this be a realistic possibility?

Cancer is a bitch.
Different cancer requires different treatments, if I recall correctly. Saying you've found the cure for cancer is like saying you've found the cure for viruses. Even if they come from the same mechanism, each one has to be handled in their own way.

And no, even if they found a cure-all, then they'd still make loads of money. Cancer will always be a thing. If you are the only people that can sell a cure for cancer, then you corner the market. You push absolutely everyone else out of the market. For good. Permanently. It's a safe bet, and companies love safe bets.

Assuming I do believe the place is over populated (even the poorest in society can afford to be fat bastards so we must be able to afford to feed a few more people) then mass sterilisation is not a hard thing to do, we could already pull it off. It is however considered distasteful for whatever reason.

Equally it is not like cancer only troubles useless people, or children with nothing much invested in them yet. Plenty of people with something still to give get taken out by it.
