I ended up buying the 8BitDo USB Wireless Adapter 2 for £15 and using my Xbox Controller. That's been a great alternative for me, I didn't really fancy spending £75 on another controller when I use the Switch more in handheld mode than I do docked.

Same! Although I've been using the adapter with my old Wii U Pro controller. Don't know about it being better but sure love being able to still use this great controller.

I too rather keep that EUR 90 in my pocket.

Here switch 2 pro controller was costing $90 which was a lot considering I had a couple of Dualsense laying around at my home. I just got 8Bitdo adapter 2 and emulated Switch 1 controller via that to work on Switch 2. Only downside is, the vibrations are tiny. I tried increasing them using 8BitDo app as well but it did not improve anything.

The Chinesium controllers with Hall effect are unironically better than switch pro controllers.
