Most people view Disney only as studio responsible for kids movies and cartoons. But that's just the tip of the iceberg. The Walt Disney Company is a HUGE company, owner of stuff like ABC, Miramax, Touchstone and others.. there's a bunch of mature-oriented properties that are owned by Disney like LOST for instance.

I, for one.. can't wait to see some Marvel animations made by Pixar

But anyways here are my thoughts on this.

You know, i'm not really surpirsed. Disney own heaps of other companies, like Miramax and ESPN (Hell, they were trying to even buy YouTube), so its nothing new for them.

Disney are simply another faceless corporation that operates to appeal to kids. They utalise things like The Jonas Brothers to subliminally use sex to sell consumer products to kids (eg: purity rings), Hanna Montana is nothing but a fucking marketing machine, they use "umbrella" companies to release products they deem "not within Disney's image range" (yet had no problem putting their name to Lewis Carroll's LSD influenced Alice in Wonderland).

I doubt they would, but I hope they don't fuck it up, i'm not a Marvel fan but understand its important place in modern culture. I think Disney has had some great flicks of the past, opening the imaginations of all kids na adults alike. But they are the company they are, and money speaks louder than a happy fanbase for them...apparently.
