In terms of games, I want to see the new 3D Mario, the new Mario Kart, an online game like Splatoon or Mario Maker, and potentially even a brand new IP.

However, I primarily want to see demonstrations of the new things the Switch 2 provides - the Joy-con Mouse Mode, the C button, and any new additions to HorizonOS - online services, features, etc...

I had said many threads ago that Nintendo needs software to get people hyped over a sequel console. Going by sales numbers, (3D) Mario, Zelda, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Pokemon, and Animal Crossing would bring many people to the table. Throwing in some curve balls would get people talking.

Mario Kart was the Switch's best seller, so it's no surprise that it was teased in the original Switch 2 unveiling.

A new mainline Pokemon that's actually good.
Mario Kart, but that's probably a guarantee.
Paper Mario.
3D Mario.
Wario Ware.
Traditional 3D Zelda.
Fortune Street. We only had one localized entry in the franchise and it was all the way back on the Wii. It would be nice to have one for a current console.
Anything else with good local multiplayer.
That's about it. We just had a new Mario Party so I'm good on that for a while.
There's zero chance they would reveal all of these in a single direct, they are just my most wanted.

With the exceptions of Fortune Street and Wario Ware, those franchises do appear in the Switch's Top 50 bestseller list.

For Zelda, BotW and TotK together sold about 50m units. Re:Link's Awakening and Echoes of Wisdom together sold about 10m.

Paper Mario: The Origami King sold about 3.5m. (I was surprised to learn that Re:Super Mario RPG sold 3.3m, and Metroid Dread sold 3m.)

It's possible Nintendo will continue making sequels for these, though they may sit on one or two to build hype.

This is about what should be expected. A few new games, a new IP, and an in-depth hardware/software showcase.

Yeah the Itedaki Street series is a weird one. The 10th game was the only game in the series ever released outside of Japan in 2012 on the Wii. Since then there was another entry in 2017 but the series has been dormant since.

can i expect something like a prime 2 / 3 / trilogy re-release to promote prime 4 or is that too early?

It's been rumored that it was originally planned for remastered to be the entire trilogy but was cut back due to development issues. So hard to say really.

Do improvements to existing games count? If so I'd be thrilled to see the Xenoblade games with better performance. The existence of a hidden 60fps mode in the new Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition makes me rather optimistic.

I haven't played it myself (yet?) but I can imagine seeing ToTK getting to stretch its legs on better hardware would be rather nice too.

Latest rumor is Switch 2 will have a LCD, not a OLED, and "Metroid Prime 4: Beyond" will be the star hit that will blow everyone away.

Won't complain about Metroid but must admit the fact that it'll feature an LCD screen and not an OLED is really a big letdown. Will be curious to see what they announce but I think it's going to be a lot harder to sell to my other half given that she's (entirely understandably) reluctant to buy something that isn't OLED.

I expect a metric fuck-ton of third-party PS4/360 game ports, but for first-party games I fully expect to see Splatoon 4.
Not super excited about Mario Kart 9, unless they give us a bad-ass gimmick this time or bring back the double-dash mechanic. I also want to see how they handle the Breath of the Wild remaster. Besides sharper and less blurry textures, I'd love to see all the DLC included on the cartridge, as well as a consistent 60FPS framerate.

Splatoon 4 is probably what I want to see the most in the Direct, putting aside 3D/Paper Mario.
I don't care much about whatever they bring to classic battling, but I'll absolutely take new singleplayer campaigns and Salmon Run additions.

tomodachi life, rhythm heaven, punch out, new mario odyssey or galaxy, kid icarus, new megaman rpg game and xenoblade chronicles 4. i need more pixel sprite game from nintendo too. i like zelda a link between world, links awakening, metroid dread and echoes of wisdom but i still wish they put out pixel games. i love minish cap one of the most beautiful gba game ive played
