So, tueidj took down the site of the person who was impersonating Crediar? If all goes to hell, he'd better find a better place to host it.
Crediar was impersonating google by using links that looked like google links but actually led to another download site.

Ah, makes sense now. Guess that spells the end of DM/DML then.

I think all Crediar has to do is show that he fixed the problem and they put it back. I'd hope so anyways.
EDIT : Crediar still has a copy of the code that he uses to work on it and the download page (that wasn't part of GoogleCode anyhow) is still available here :

Hey guys, can somebody please enlighten me on the whole situation? I know all answers can be found in the last couple of posts but I still want a personal reply.

No, its GPL.
Even if crediar drops DM over this (which would be a tremendous stupidity imho): as long there is a single person interested in it it will stay around.

And I expect that if the masked links are removed everything else can continue as is.
He could simply link to his hoster the normal way.
Noboby can force Crediar to post binaries on his google code page if he does not want to.

I think this basically sums it up. https://groups.googl...ing/oV2_Ucux6qk it's [member='tueidj']'s post reporting the site.

The Downloads tab for the diosmios project (http://code.google.c.../Downloads?tm=2) has been modified using a wiki gadget to use content from http://no-ip.crediar.com/down.xml. The end purpose of this seems to be to make the download links look like any other google code project but the downloads actually link to files on uploaded.net, which presumably provides income to the uploader when other people download them. This would seem to be a violation of Google's project hosting terms of service:
terms of service said:
You agree not to reproduce, duplicate, copy, sell, trade, resell or exploit for any commercial purposes, any portion of Google services, use of Google services, or access to Google services except as otherwise expressly provided in the terms or as specifically authorized in a separate written agreement.
Additionally the external download service being used (uploaded.net) is causing problems for many end users by requiring a delay of one hour between individual downloads unless the user registers (and pays) for their "premium" download service.

Thanks for the report. We'll follow up with the owners of the project to get this resolved one way or the other.

He should just go with Mediafire, it's free, there's no one-hour wait (which is downright asinine, but you can bypass that limitation with VPNs and proxies...that's what I do), and did I mention it doesn't suck balls?

Page is back for me now - no downloads aside from a png though.
I also just noticed that the download page at http://crediar.no-ip.com/dwn.php that he used to have superimposed into the GoogleCode page no longer looks like a fake GoogleCode page. It has it's own formatting now.
EDIT : Wait ... no, I must not have looked fast enough to see the PNG. It's the above page and set of links again. It just doesn't have the counterfeit GoogleCode look anymore but he does have a donation link on there now and an ad.

There where binaries of DM on google code.
At one point they were removed in favor of some shrehoster.
Aledgedly because Crediar wanted to make some bucks.
Some people were unhappy for numerous reasons but nobody did anything about it.
So far so good.

But at the same time the google code download page was replaced by a fake google code download page pointing to that sharehoster.
Later tueidj pointed that out to google.
Now DMs coogle gode page is locked down for some unknown reason.
Common believe is that tueidjs message caused it.
Feelings about the situation, crediar and tueidj seem to be mixed.

crediar and I would like to say thanks to tueidj for bringing this to our attention...albeit indirectly. It's since been rectified, and the SVN has been restored.
So again, thank you tueidj.
THANK. YOU.

You crack me up, man. Your posts are always filled with cynical energy. I'm not trying to say that in a negative way.
I think tueidj is just jealous.

I'm on no one's side here but I'm sure with all due respect to tueidj that his action had some jealousy for Crediar and DML being far more popular than Devolution, the thing with Devolution is it requires a 1:1 clean copy and owning the official disk which a lot of people me included don't like, I legally still own Sonic Gems Collection which in Dios Mios still asks for a disk to be inserted in order for it to work, I hate that but I hate more to have to make yet another 1:1 copy of the game for Devolution to work and risk my laser wearing off, I'll still probably do that sometime down the line but not anytime soon, I think if tueidj wants Devolution to be more popular at least he can allow DiskEx format to work, I'll gladly switch to Devolution "for my legally purchased games" if that happened!

Anyway don't really care which one wins or loses, I think this whole rivalry is rather childish but by now we already know both parties behave rather childish, I hope this madness ends soon because quite frankly I'm getting a headache of all that drama on the internet, worst case scenario if the links aren't up again at least I saved the final build of each version of DML (r58, 1.5, 2.2) and the final build of DM and Quadforce!

Nevermind, crediar doesn't want me hosting the files so I'm not going to do that. I don't like how he does things, but I do respect his desire to control where the files are hosted.
