The 64 cluster size probably doesn't make much of a difference anymore. But other than that: just follow this guide.

I use postloader, btw. But all the loaders are pretty much up to par, as the only real difference is in the DML revision you install.

Does the speedtest program used to produce the test results already use the new sd read algoritms (using interrupts) or does it still use the older ones?

In case of 2, they aren't very accurate anymore.

I think the test is just reading the data as fast as possible. When you are currently not reading anything, the arm is idle and waits until it has to read something again. If the reads were executed on the ppc, then the read speed would be different with and without interrupts.

I haven't looked at it any closer yet, but a 32KB read speed of 156KB/s and a 64KB read speed of 1920KB/s doesn't seem to make much sense. I can understand that a 64KB cluster size works faster, as there is only half the need to search the file allocation table for the next cluster, but I find it hard to believe that reading 64KB blocks is a magnitude of 10 faster than reading 32KB blocks. It would not suprise me at all if these figures would be caused by a small bug in the program.

I think I spotted a mistake in the DML compatibility list

Starfox adventures USA doesn't work, but under the EUR region it says "works". That can't be correct, right?

Also, does starfox assault not have audio streaming issues? Does that one actually work on DML?

starfox adventures usa DOES work. but it has audio problems due to the fact that it uses streaming audio. and yes, starfox assault works flawlessly. it doesnt use streaming audio.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation.

Can I use a 1:1 image dump or do I have to use DiscEX on the iso? space is no issue to me.
Yes, you can use a 1:1 image dump, just rename it to game.iso and put it in their folder.
In fact, when you drop the ISO on DiscEX.exe or is used without commands it only creates an exact copy of the ISO named game and extracts from it the contents of the SYS folder (not needed).

Since when?

When you use discEX to compress it automatically converts the iso to a dios mios supported format

Quick question on the DML installer 1.1:

It says i need a previously installed cMIOS. i have the cMIOS that allows the booting of backup GC games, so does that count?

The compression only shrinks the ISO, DML works although isn't compressed (1:1).
Fix94 just answered this in another thread. DiscEx is required for SNEEK mode.
Yes, for the files in the SYS folder DiscEX extract from the ISO (that are not required in the not emulated nand (is a requirement for SNEEK, for the banners and stuff).
But that doesn't change anything in the ISO (If the iso isn't compressed or aligned).
