It still doesn't make sense why the physical game can be run on component cables, but a gamecube game SD launcher can'load the exact same game using the exact same cables. It makes no sense whatsoever.

Wait what? You didn't tell me that in the beginning. Are you certain the game isn't just crashing then? Cables, TV, disk, or otherwise, won't matter if there isn't any video to display.

I thought I did, but maybe I didn't, and if I didn't, I apologize :( It shows the memory card loading screen just fine, but when it shows the Capcom logo, there's audio but no video. It doesn't crash but it certainly ain't playable. See this whole thing doesn't make sense.
?
Physical disc with component cables (Gamecube mode)? Runs perfectly fine.
Backed up ISO image from SD using component cables? Audio but not video
Forced Video Modes - Default, NTSC 480p/PAL 480p, PAL60

I should note that 480p NTSC was the only one with results, but what showed up was a double image in monochrome, which took up half the screen. Maybe it just doesn't like my LCD TV.

If the Wii's gamecube mode can run 240p games on component without adverse affects, then DML 1.x can sure as he** run the same game using the same freakin' cables.

It's strange. I have this game working on my end.

I just tried megman X collection

My setup

Game was converted using DiscEX and it is compressed
CFG usbloader v70mod32
DML 1.4b
Using component cables * Not sure what brand but i bought them when the wii first came out and they work just fine for me.

Only setting i changed was i turned NO DISC to "ON" from within the game settings within CFG loader.

Game works perfectly.

If anyone is interested in buying component cables for the Wii buy the official one its much sharper than any other 3rd party cables http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nintendo-Official-Component-Video-Cable/dp/B000JJRV90

I would guess running the real disk just uses the default DML settings on it. Maybe the default ends up being 480i or something. (like forcing interleaved even though it has component cables.) Just a guess.

I too have MMXC working perfectly fine, DiskEx + DML 1.4b!

Well, seeing as I'm using DML 1.2, that would certainly explain why.

How do I go about updating DML to 1.4b? Right now, I just use it through CFG USB Loader since that gives me the least hassle. There are so many files on Google Code I don't know whether to use the .elf, .dol or other files listed on there. What one do I get? The fact that I'm using the OFFICIAL component cables speaks volumes.

Again, I have tried ALL possible video modes in the USB/SD launcher. The rest of the settings are at the default (NMN, NoDisc, etc are set to "none").

I'm pretty sure that, if you guys are capable of playing it, then that means whatever bug was there before was fixed in 1.3 and on. My Vizio (I'm not rich) LCD HDTV is set to 480p, the Wii is set to 480p and I use official component cables, so by that logic, those use with the current settings, it's supposed to work. What should the CFG USB settings be set to for this game?

Digital is digital, either it works or it doesn't. Don't spend 10 times the price for the same product.
Actually, component cables are analog. That's why they still can't do higher resolutions, they just let it do progressive instead of interleaved. The Wii doesn't have HDMI which would really be digital

Edit : never mind. it looks like my TV just sucks

You can quite easily use resolutions greater than 1080p with an analog connection. (2048x1536 on VGA comes to mind.) The reason why the Wii can't output higher than 640x480 (640x576 in PAL) is because Nintendo restricted the GPU's modesetting capabilities.

Regarding third-party vs. Nintendo cables: It may be possible that some third-party cables were built horribly, leading to poor signal, but a good quality cable should be identical to the Nintendo cables. I have a Wii YPbPr cable from Monoprice and it works pretty well.

if the signal is flowing i don't believe there can be a difference in quality. its like a car part, steel is steel, a $25 rotor does the same as a $50 rotor.

if the connection is made how can you say that there is "better" quality between wires? i have a $5 hdmi cable from 5 below, it works just as well as my $14 cable i bought from the dollar general.

sorry for off topic just felt the need to comment. back on topic, where is dios mios for usb loading? no more words from crediar on it?

I may be wrong but didn't DML 1.2 replace GCLoader with a Mini GCLoader? I don't know for sure seeing I didn't update from DML r58 until DML 1.3 came out with the ability to run disks again!

back on topic, where is dios mios for usb loading? no more words from crediar on it?

I was gonna ask the same question, whatever happened to that? :O I really wanna know if the used USB device can be formatted as FAT32 or NTFC or not!

I was wondering, too, as I'm sure about everyone else who's even heard of it is but I'll venture a hopeful guess at it:

I would guess that v1.4 was only released as a quick fix because everyone was complaining about disk channel compatibility. I would hope the next major release would end up being Dios Mios 1.0

As for NTFS, depending on how much space it takes, that might come eventually but I'm sure the first release will still only be FAT16/32
