I've been checking this forum for quite a long time also waiting for this and my problem with it is exactly this:

The lack of information kept me silent, but I always thought about it, everyone must think about it: there isn't anyone really working on it. Will it be finished? I really waited for a long time, I can wait for more. But the one thing that I don't want to happen is for the work accomplished thus far to be wasted. If the translation isn't progressing, even if slowly, then why not release it as it is? I'll be more than happy to play it with half a story translated. The most important part is the gameplay stuff anyway.

If the most important part is the gameplay, just play the japanese version dude. Since they've said that they won't be releasing it unless it is completed, stop pressing them for that. Even if they really want(not that I mean they are) to hold the release, it's their choice and their works, and not our place to request and complain. We didn't pay them to do it.

That's absurd. Because if we do this, we will dig our grave by our hands.
If we did the "early release" without story, the topic will be flooded with questions like "When it will be completed? The menu translation is not enough!!".
If you find it very frustrating to wait, try to find translator(s) who are willing it to work on this. And by translator, I mean not Google-translators.

I seriously cannot understand how people really think that the most important part of an RPG is the gameplay... For platformers, sure, that's true, for an RPG (role-playing game) though... Now that's just being plain silly. =O

I wasn't going to, but I will reply to yugix. Your reaction of thinking it is absurd was quite surprising to me. I fail to see it that way but I would assume you have a much better perspective in it. To me it wouldn't be much different then how it has been so far, people have already been periodically asking how long until there is a release or if the project do still alive. Would people actually complain in like "Why you guys release half a patch? You guys suck". That would be unjustified.

Like I said, I don't want accomplished work to be wasted. The longer this takes, the less people are going to be interested in it. By now, how many people are still genuinely waiting for this, checking the forums every now and then. Either way you guys do what you believe is best, I was just giving my input.

Also, I gotta say it's rather lame of you to say "if you find it very frustrating to wait" when I had already said in my message that I didn't mind waiting.

Seriously as in, you're actually serious? Doesn't seem serious. So it's assumed that every RPG is the same or/and every player should perceive them the same way? Ok.

i couldn't disagree more. there's RPGs with really deep storylines that drag you in of course. but not every RPG has a really amazing story. just look at pokémon games. RPGs mostly meant deep storylines originally, but that's certainly not true anymore. and let's face it, the previous digimon games had pretty pitiful stories.

If you think this project is taking long, then you haven't been around the fan translation scene for long. Most translations take years, some even take almost a decade to be finished. Even if it takes a long time, in the end, the games get released with a full translation, just the way the people working on it wished.

The group said plenty of times that they plan on releasing it when it's fully finished, so just wait.

The blog above belongs to Kingcom's group, they're one of the best translation groups out there and they only post updates on games like twice a year, when the game is done and finished though, they release the patch.
You people need to understand that this is a fan translation, done by people who have personal lives and and since it's their work, they have the right to do it the way they want it. Not the way you want it.
If you want to play the game without it being fully translated, then go and play the Japanese version, doesn't have a lot of hard kanji so go and have fun with it in Japanese.

Do you have experience graphic editing for hacks etc already? If so show me evidence.

isn't graphic editing basically just editing/altering the text on an image for example there is an image in Japanese in the game and you need it changed into English is that graphic editing?

well i have been vectoring for a while so im use to photoshop which would be easy for graphic editing

here is a bg i made from scratch on photoshop:
http://www.deviantart.com/art/Hashirama-Sage-Mode-465873516

so i think i might as well try to help with the graphic editing because i want to play this game ASAP!

Alright well I forwarded your request to Yugix since i only have small knowledge of what we need on the graphics side.

Glad to see the projects still going on, true part of rpg thats great is the storyline, especially jrpg, if u just went through the game without bothering to read and understand the story then ur gaming experience may be " sorry to say" lame, im prepared to wait, good fan translations take time, sometimes when things are almost done there's bugs in the game when testing, so guys take ur time, im supporting this a genuine gamer and otaku, im not a game hacker but i did some amaeture editing so i know it takes time and efford

Very Excited for this patch to get completed. Wondering if anyone working on this has a rough estimate for the time left?

Keep up with the effort guys, and ignore those who whine/complain/etc, they're just impatient and greedily want to play the game, and like you said, they'll probably complain about the patch if it's released no matter what (that's just how humans are).

As for everyone else, just appreciate their effort and work, and be glad they're even translating. If you're gonna whine and complain, either try doing it yourself or play the game as is; no need to bother them about it, and it makes you look like a brat or the like, no offense.

@dimmid
Just my two cents.

... I'd have to disagree with you on gameplay being more important now, the reason a game is a game is due to setting/story. Without it it couldn't really be called a game (to me). The story defines how the game is gonna be played, or why stuff is happening, without it, the game gets boring really quickly. Try playing this game in Japanese, you don't need a translation to play and complete the game, but it's tiring doing that without reading the story. I've tried to complete it two times now, both times I gave up around half to 3/4ths of the way cuz I couldn't get into the game, unlike the other two where I easily completed them. Main reason is that I could read the story and feel like I'm actually playing a game, rather then trying the game out or something along that line.

To me, and probably many others, story lines, no matter how simple, engross you into the game. That's probably why you're coming back here waiting for the translation yourself. You can easily play the game without the translation, but you can't get engrossed without getting into the story.

Ps. True that the stories/settings are 'pitiful', but even with how pitiful it is, you were still playing and waiting for a sequel, like all the pokemon fans out there, and I doubt it's cuz of the game play ( there are quite a few others with similar game play out there, after all).

PS2. Games are kind of like life, without a goal you're just idling by, but once you have a goal, it becomes brighter, fuller, and more enjoyable. (and that's what the story is.)

I just think it's funny that these people are so impatient about the patch when it is perfectly possible to play through the game completely untranslated. I did it, it wasn't that hard to figure out what to do and where to go.

If they were truly that desperate to play the game, it's possible to do so. Without a patch of any sort.

Otherwise they're just complaining for the sake of complaining. You want to play it that badly, go ahead, it's doable. But if all you want is an English patch then... please be patient. It's coming, you just need to be patient.

Not to mention the fact that there are several guides for the game that tell you exactly whats going on.
