If you place your wii next to a window with sunlight, and no sensor bar is plugged in, you can point your wiimote at the window sunlight is coming in from, and the wii will show the wiimote pointer on-screen.

No need to replace broken sensor bars.

of course, the wiimote pointer is quite jumpy when you do this.

Actually you can use any source of IR light for a sensor bar thats why they are so cheap on ebay because Nintendo is over charging for 10 small IR lights in a plastic bar

You can do that with any source of infrared light as long as the Wii Remote's pointer can pick it up. The sensor bar's obviously there for a reason, so you don't have to be playing in the sunlight in order to use that pointer.
