Well, I don't really think having "DS" slammed into every homebrew title is nice, ex. PokéraDarS (I like the ring of that, though), why not have something like Pokémon Tracker/PokéTracker? Or perhaps PokéScope? Or maybe PokéFinders/PokéFinDerS?

I dunno, with a dictionary/thesaurus, anything is possible.

For next version, I hope you can fix the text, since I have to squint to see the text. That'd be awesome.

Thanks for this link. Thats exactly what I need however I probably wont get to work on this for a couple of weeks since I have a bunch of things due for school these next two weeks.

Problem with naming it PokedexDS is that that's the name of wabta's pokedex for the ds and I dont think it would be right to take that name even though he announced that he wouldnt be working on that project.

Not the first time that this has happened. Which is why I need a new name.

Thanks for all the name suggestions and keep them coming. One thing though. Here's a link with a small sample of the old and new version. It only has the 9 first pokemons but its just so you know where its going since its changed a bit.

I'm actually hoping that this is going to add in the stuff I said earlier (and possibly follow a layout similar to the HGSS pokedex, maybe even ask Env about that since he already has a HGSS moonshell2 skin). Just as a graphical feature I think would also be cool would be to have something similar to the DAS/DTS from Another Code: Trace Memory, but then again, the main stuff should be completed first xD (I fantasize about having the most epic one-stop pokedex so I never have to look it up on serebii again, as some can probably notice =D).
 
I'm a bit surprised no one thought of "PokéDexter", and if you're inconvenienced that there ain't a DS slammed onto the title, you can make it "PokéDexterDS"...
Just my thoughts....

Oh, I REEEALLY like this, by the way. It'll be very convenient for the release of HGSS

well depends what you think of as a benefit. I mostly did it because i doubt everyone in the world actually catches all 493 pokemons and you will not even be able to see all of them with just one game. Also maybe you can let your imagination fly and walk around town pulling out your DS and pointing it at people to see which pokemon they are. which makes me think to include a button to do that so it gets one at random.

I did think of "PokéDexter" at some point but thats also the name of a pokedex for PC which has up to 251 pkmns. Thats why I just went with DexterDS at first. but I can see how adding Poke at the beginning makes it so much clearer
 
I say you go with PokéDexter. It's quite similar to Dexter, and easy to remember.
Everyone thought the title was about Dexter, I thought it was about Dexter's Labaratory. That's why I thought PokéDexter would sound right...

Its not the name of the PC in pokemon. Its the name of a pokedex app for windows and stuff.
Yea I am finishing it. But I'm thinking of waiting until heartgold and soul silver come out so i can get the descriptions from there. I'm thinking it'll for sure be released by the end of the month with all 493 pokemons and after that I'll see if i can include more features and stuff.
 
Bulbapedia has all of the English dex data from HG/SS.
How?
Foreign dex entries. Once you trade a Pokémon from a foreign language into your game, you unlock that language's entry for that Pokémon.

They probably ripped the English dex entries from the rom.

That's so awesome. So I'll start working on that as soon as possible. Also this might be worth a shot, does anyone know of a way to get all the pokedex entries in a list or something instead of going page by page and copying them? I dont want to have to code a program to do that so maybe someone already has a way. If this is done then I might be able to include all pokedex entries, as well as locations where to find the pokemon(text not map).

One more thing. is anyone interested in the Unown Dex within the pokedex or should I go for the "unown notebook" from the new games or is that irrelevant?
 
The Unown Dex was so unnecesary...
I say you don't need it on the final product.
I wonder how large the final version will be, considering:
DP sprites were around 6 MB
All sound files were 4 MB
and the size of the rom is... 7,6 MB

Dayum... it'd end up pretty big...
 
Well I wont include the unown dex yet. Personally I like unowns but i understand that its not everyones favorite.
Yea I'm kinda afraid of the size two but i think it'll be less than 20MB which is still pretty huge but then again I dont really know how to manage the filesystem to compress the size or something.
 
Well, I would love to have an unown dex added for the sake of completeness, though it anything that can be worried about closer to the end, when the project is closer to finished xD. Really, the main thing I'm hoping for is a pokedex that can erase the need to visit places like bulbapedia or serebii for my pokemon needs (consisting of learnable moves, learnable tms, egg moves, natures, abilities, etc.).

for now it'll only include the basics (description, base stats, evolution) because I'm worried about the size of the whole thing. If its not that bad then I will include things like moves, tms, hms and other things. However i think its best if the cries are never included because, and i've mentioned this before, I dont like the weird screeching noises that they make. But i will consider including sounds for clicking and stuff if i figure out how to fit all that in.
