(First post, woo)

I got this to work on my Wii U flawlessly, but I have a very noobish question about this: How do I get the PS3 controller to work on this? I think I'm doing something wrong because it won't work. Can someone explain it step-by-step for me? I'd very much appreciate it.

This may be a dumb question, maybe I over read something, but why does my Wii U spit all my Gamecube discs out?

You don't put GC Discs in your Wii U, you have to validate the games on an actual Wii first whilst using a WiiMote, it stores the validatioin on the WiiMote and then you can use the .iso on your WiiU.

  1. Insert a GC game into your Wii (Not WiiU)
  2. Use CleanRip to rip the game to USB or SD Card depending where you want it.
  3. Put the USB/SD Card into a Computer or use Wiixplorer and move the .iso you just created into the /games folder on your USB or SD.
  4. Rename the .iso from it's game ID to something you remember, eg GPEOD.iso into GameName.iso
  5. Eject that disc from Wii.
  6. Put the USB/SD into the Wii and boot into HBC.
  7. Launch devolution and press either 1 for SD or 2 for USB on the WiiMote.
  8. Choose your game and press A on WiiMote.
  9. Wait until the Wii flashes blue twice, over and over.
  10. Make sure the WiiMote is on again and insert your game you just ripped into the drive.
  11. It will validate it on the WiiMote and launch it from the SD/USB eventually.
You can now just use that stuff on WiiU without the GC Disc because it's verified.
  1. Boot devolution on WiiU.
  2. Press 1 for SD or 2 for USB.
  3. Select your game and press A.
  4. Make sure WiiMote you verified with is active (Press buttons till it connects).
  5. Game will boot.

because the wiiU cannot read gamecube games, you must verify them on a gamecube-compatible wii

THanks... I was wondering what all the business about the Wiimote was. That is strange...

don't like it. Gotta have a Wii to play Gamecube on the Wii U.

I admire the efforts of this project, but this is just silly and annoying.

ISOs I've been using have been PAL or the 4 rips I've personally done from the disk.
I also doubt that there is a chance in hell I'd be able to find another copy of that game from anywhere, lol.

And yeah, the folders are all correct. As I said, my other 12 games authenticate without issue

What if you try with an NTSC ISO?
There's is nothing to lose anyway, so try to do the verification with a NTSC iso and see what happens.

Never mind, figured out how to log the thing. Can anyone shed some light on what is up with this?
This is a clean rip from the disc, and it's MD5 etc is verified with redump.

I'm no expert but it seems to me that the log shows it trying to start the game which would mean it gets past the verification process. (Again, I could be wrong, though)
If that's the case, this would be very odd.
Just to be certain, you don't happen to have a mod chip installed that might be messing with the process?

Nope, totally unmodified on the hardware front. As I've said as well to clarfy what I see, it flashes twice, disc goes in, then doesn't flash any more and boots to HBC.

I had something similar to that happen with my action replay disc (I wasn't expecting it to work anyway). Load iso, pop in disc, verify, and it exits to the HBC. I checked that the disc was verified as a dvv was created and would just exit to the HBC after loading even without a disc. If its helpful, I could grab a log from that.

I decided to at least get Eternal Darkness set up on my Wii U.

I set it up on my Wii, then fired up my Wii U with the same hard drive attached. Used the same Wiimote that I did on the Wii, but still, it loads to blackness and my Wiimote merely flashes.

I tried mine out of curiosity too, although it flashed 9 times before going to HBC.

Either you didn't read the readme.txt or you're just rubbish at following directions. You have to connect the wiimote(s) *before* you insert the disk for verification otherwise it won't be linked.

Um, there doesn't? The readme.txt never mentions anything about requiring two wiimotes...

Man, who ever's brat you are, I feel sorry for them. Then again they must be some messed up parents to raise someone as rude as your self.

Anyhow, I misread the docs, that is all.

"Step 5 (OPTIONAL): If you plan on playing the game on other Wii or WiiU consoles, you will
need to connect one or more wiimotes to the wii now."

Where it said connect one or more wiimotes, I read "connect one more wiimote". Simple error.

EDIT: Game still does not load with original Wiimote.

Hey now, it's not my fault I was right about you not following directions properly.
Post the logs of both the verification being performed and then attempting to start the game on your wiiu, it will be easy to spot if you're doing it properly or not.

how to fix button mapping when launching games through cfg loader? I have Maxternals Mod installed

Nope, you are not responsible for my mis-reading, but you are responsible for your own manners, maturity, and common courtesy. I'd say if you sincerely want to help people in this thread, it would benefit them and your self not to slam people for their mistakes and short comings, but rather to help them into the light with patience and clear guidance.

Just connect it using a USB cable. BAM! Done! :)

You can then hit some code combo on there to get it to work via bluetooth, but off the top of my head I can't remember it exactly. But, keep in mind, if you do that, you'll then have to connect it via USB to use it with your PS3 again (which in turn will then mean you'll have to go through the whole thing again next time you use it on Devolution).

Unless of course you have 2 PS3 controllers then you can leave one for Devo unless a friend comes over and ya'll wanna get down on some Tekken or something then you'll have to do it again, but really it's super easy and quick.
