Well I tried to rerip Melee on my hdd and between 75-80% I would get a write error then it would reset itself. It did this more then once too. I never had a problem with CleanRip before and I don't think it's the case. It has to be the hard drive.
Damn, back to the thinking board.

ToddofWar420 i am just wondering, were do you keep your GC iso's? is it in \games\ or are they in subfolders?
Because the sample loader only looks in \games\ for the ISO and if not found the sample loader will not work.

Also its very weird you tell us the memory card emulation is not working, because how do you know if you can't start any game with DEVO?
Hey E,
my games are in the games/ on the root of my hard drive on the 1st partition in fat32 format. They all worked before and just gave up on me one day when I went to play Melee.
Also, when I started the sample loader via HBC, it says
"No memory card found in slot A (-3), memory card emulation will be used."
when I clearly have my memcard.bin in place. I never even moved it.

That means there is no PHYSICAL memory card being used and is therefore using an emulated card (memcard.bin). It's perfectly normal.

Yeah, that does make sense now that you mentioned it.
I was thinking that it wasn't picking up my card and making a new one for some reason...

Pardon me just getting in on this, but you did try to rip this with something else (full rip not compressed) like wiiflow or config usb loader ? It just doesn't make sense it would be the HDD. If so, rip another game to the drive and it should also fail, but that partial ripped image alone should take up enough space to where the second time you try to rip it, it hits those bad sectors right away and fails. So chkdsk doesn't find any issues with this drive? What about smart? Again, try another app.

Better yet, find other means on getting an ISO of the game (you own it) and then use the real disc for the authentication.

I don't understand... how come this is supposed to be used to play gc games from a usb drive but you still say u need to own the original game? (I do have some, mind you)

Would you mind reading the first few pages of this thread. I think then you'll understand.

But on another topic: Could we make the "MemCard Emulation" column on the Compatibility list (http://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/Devolution_Compatibility_List) allow for "n/t" or "not tested"?

I did read the first pages and still didn't quite understand, maybe i'm kinda dumb, but i'm not lazy enough to ask without reading first =_=

Anyway, no need to reply.

It's meant to be a "backup loader" and not a "warez loader" so it just asks you to prove to it the FIRST time you try to play that you actually have the original disk in order to "install" the disk image to be usable with Devolution. From there on that game will play straight from the disk image WITHOUT the retail disk, no problem.

The POINT is just to be able to play your games all off of one drive instead of having to get up and do all the work to switch disks each time.

Any further discussion on this specific topic (why) they've asked us to continue that discussion in another thread
( http://gbatemp.net/threads/why-add-anti-piracy-measures-to-devolution.330634/ )
and to keep this thread free of that conversation as much as possible. ;)

I found out there's nothing wrong with my CleanRip. I was just running out of space on my drive. After I cleared up some space I tried again and it work but I still can't get it to play my GC games

Yea. I just moved it so it wouldn't pick it up.

edit: I just replaced my cIOS from d2x v8 final to d2x v10 beta-alt and now when I try to load Devo via HBC, I press X to mount the hard drive it says
"failed to mount hard drive"
I don't know if that's an improvement or not but I did order me another 3TB and is expected to be here on the 6th. So unless I can resolve this minor set back I'll have to wait til then to see what the deal is

Alright, continuing my Devolution problem and hoping for a solution..
So earlier I tried to install DM 2.6 & DM(L) and tried to run Pokemon Colosseum and the Wii ended up reseting itself quickly. <--Perhaps I may not did it right.. all I did was install the .wad using WM 1.7
I went back and Uninstalled the DM's and reinstalled a clean RVL-mios-v10.wad
So I then and went to borrowed a friends Wii cuz I made hers with the exact same setup as mine, just hers is black. I tried to do everything over as I was with my Wii and all I got was the same results..

Which did you install? DM or DML? DM = USB loading, DML = SD Loading. You can only use one at a time, and if you try to load a USB game while on DML it will fail (or vice-versa).

I've personally found Devolution a bit temperamental with what drives it accepts. For instance I had a Samsung drive which ran fine, but then got a bigger Western Digital drive and Devolution refuses to work. Even if I try to load from an SD card when the Western Digital Drive is plugged in, it refuses to work - but unplugged, loads fine from the SD card.

I actually took turns using both hoping to pinpoint where the problem is to see whether it was the hard drive or not. I also went to my wiiflow.ini settings and changed the game directory so it would pick the game up upon cache reload.

Also, which one you have installed (DM or DML) or even if you don't have it installed at all will have NOTHING to do with whether Devolution works or not.
Were you just comparing to see which one (Devolution or DM) would work with your hard drive or which one (Devolution or DML) would work with your SD card?

Niether DMs are installed right now. Just Devolution. But yeah, I was just comparing to see which I could get to work atm.

I can just imagine ... you just bought a game but stop by your friend's house on the way home. You're so eager to try it out that you pop it into his console and play a bit ...
... only to find when you get home that the retail disk has now been burned with HIS console ID and will never be able to be played anywhere else EXCEPT for in your friend's console ever again.

THAT WOULD SUCK.
