Hacking devkit PPC

Is there any resource that i can use to get this working, and then help if i get any future problems. I have gone through the tutorial on wiibrew.org but

A) when i run the helloworld example through the emulator i can see the app running in taks manager, but nothing appears on screen.

B) im not sure how to set the enviroment settings correctly.

same...sorry if i am bumping this but i really want an answer.
how do i install then compile something? Ive tried the guide but it didn't work. If anyone knows a GOOD IDE for linux that would allow me to
disasemble .dol files into asm
compile c into a .dol
compile asm into a dol
i would be eternaly grateful. An install guide would also be nice.
