tmbinc has posted a blog entry explaining how/why Datel's Free Loader is to blame for Nintendo patching the Trucha Signer bug.

Has it been confirmed that the Freeloader no longer works with all the latest Nintendo updates installed?

What about Datel's "guarantee" that it will work (they'll send you a new disc if you send in your old one)?

He's pretty much right. Eventually, a lot of people who bought this product will update their console in one way or another, rendering their $20 purchase useless ...

I thought the same thing about the freeloader. It's good to hear I was thinking right, but it's sad to hear that this really happened because without that shitty Company we would still be using homebrew. And why the hell does nintendo don't want import games. The 360 and the PS3 both can play imports. (although the 360 doesn't play every game because some developers don't want their games to be region free. hm. )

I hope Datel takes back all their freeloader disks and then gets bankrot and their products dissappear from the store shelves.

Well I read that it was a joke somewhere else but I can't find the link so I gave that one but if that's the case then dammit something that could have been good has made things bad.

Yeah, a lot of sites posted that news when the wiki page was vandalized [IMG]

Yes... who thought a Freeloader would do that much of damage to everyone. Datel, find your own exploits, next time! [IMG]

We all knew that this generation would be harder to be hacked because of the updatable firmware..
When the Trucha Signer was released the guy who released it said that it was a stupid bug that could be patched easily by Nintendo, so we all knew that Nintendo would eventually fix it.

Well someone TL;DRed that whole post. Firstly, 3 teams found that bug independently. It was that stupid. You can't prepare a whole product in 2 days (from the release of trucha signer to the release of the freeloader)

    ---

Also, I reject the topic of this thread, which was directly copied from Wiinewz - bad form there, webyugioh. It even says in the copied blog post it could have been the release of Trucha Signer that got nintendo working on a fix.

Nintendo Wii Signerature bug - BOOM They make it a BIG privacy problem.

Datel's guys should NEVER been born!

Can you read, or do you believe the misleading title?

The action replay DS required Datel to reverse-engineer game binaries to find a hook that would work in most games, and reverse-engineered animal crossing when they found that that game didn't work.

I reckon they discovered the RSA signature bug before the release of Trucha Signer. No company can develop and release a product, which works completely differently from homebrew "Region Free" methods in 2 days.

Of course, you could always go with the flow and bash people for no apparent reason. That seems to be the trend right now.

Exactly what I thought. So everyone is crying wolf for nothing (so far).

Also - Datel has said they will replace the Freeloader discs as necessary (i.e. Nintendo blocks them). Whether or not you can trust in that guarantee is another thing...but still...

I have been using Datel products for a very long time ... they have been around for a good many years ... and when a disc of theirs becomes obsolete, all you have to do is post it to them, along with your name and address, and they send you, free of charge ... you don't even have to pay the postage ... the updated version.

90% of the stupid questions and accusations in this thread are answered in the blog entry of tmbinc. [IMG]
    JUST READ IT!!!!
gbatemp has become such a kiddy place with people who can´t read, it´s fucking annoying.

datel will not be able to provide an updated disc, because they are using the same signature bug as trucha and that will be fixed. they will not be able to sign the disc.

This is also assuming that their Wii research is static. I.E. they've "found" trucha and they have stopped all work. I think we know better to assume they aren't working on finding the next trucha-esque bug.

There will be a way, and Datel will find it ... at least for those playing original imports on un-modded machines.

They have been around a long time, have many contacts within the industry and, have very good staff ... even the people criticizing them acknowledge their skills.
