Since my D2A drive broke down and I'm getting a D2C-drive, I need a new chip. Well, my choice well easily on the D2pro, since it seems very good.

Anyways. I'm reading much about upgrading it via cable, but I don't want that! I also read that it can be upgraded by DVD, but I don't know if it will do the same? Will it be the same to upgrade via DVD, just what suits me best?

Anything more I should know about the D2pro?

Hope someone can give me an answer

DVD updates can only update the drivecode on the SPI flash...

JTAG updates can change the FPGA code.

You shouldn't need to ever update the FPGA - unless a new drive model emerges.... which won't concern you if your wii is already chipped. Drivecode may need to be updated though, if new protection (ie, like SMG) emerges.

Because of the high risk of ending up with a D2C2 drive these days - I'd recommend either a Wasabi V2 or D2Pro9 V2. The new Wasabi is a bit fresh... but I'm yet to see any bad reports - the V2 D2Pro9 seems a bit rushed and buggy.
