Hacking D2CKey and WII-CLIP Version One - A good buy?

I most likey have: "Your Drive Chip is most likely GC2-D2C. Your Drive Pins are most likely not cut" (thx wiitracker). The choices above (topic) seem to be the cheapest and easiest option for my dvd drive. I know of some drawbacks of the d2ckey - only upgradeable via programmer but is there any wii backup game compatiablity issues or so on? Is it worth buying a newer chip or just go this route?

I can get both the wiiclip and d2ckey for 20 bucks from volumerate... hard to pass that up!

what's your wii version? you don't know what version is?

well the version (model number) is a rvl-001 (usa) and based on the serial number it probably has a d2c dvd drive version.

I thought the important thing was the type of dvd drive you had and just to make sure to set the jumpers to the proper region (ntsc)...
