Hacking CycloDS vs. Supercard DSONE

Plus, I'm still waiting for a list of those supposed "features" that the SC1 is better than the CycloDS at?

I listed some of the ones I feel are significant on the first page, but sidneyyoung seems to have a more thorough list above.

I used these pics as a comparison to show that the EDGE is essentially a clone of the CycloDS, but it works just as well to show that the microSD no longer sticks out with new CycloDS carts (I bought mine in February/March from RHS):

Its still pot luck whether or not you get a CycloDS where the microSD doesn't stick out.

Don't waste our time with made-up logistical bullshit. Its obvious that you were trying to imply that anyone who thinks the SCDS1 is the better choice has never used a CycloDS, which is a complete falsehood.

OK. It's obvious that I'm just talking to brick walls here. I've given my opinion on the carts and I stand behind any statements I've made in this thread. What I was saying is that those before my post did not own both, therefore were stating biased opinions. That is all.

You don't think whether or not someone owns both carts is relevant to a debate between the two?

Why do you "attack" me for my statements when there are far more blatant examples of fanboyism within this thread? Have I ever called anyone a name when stating my opinions? It seems that as an important member of this site you would support those that add to discussions constructively.

Now onto what I was going to say...

From what I've read (and seen from including the photos sk3tch has so kindly posted), I can make assumptions that:

1) the SCDS has a slow menu system (sluggish compared to R4?)
2) the CycloDS has no cheat problems (especially since I can get cheat files from gbatemp

)
3) both the SCDS and the CycloDS have pretty much the same functions
4) build quality for both are the same (people, please shut up about the microsd sticking out, it's not like you can break your microSD with that lil 1mm)
5) CycloDS owners are quite vicious and good at arguments

Theres actually quite a few features the SCDS1 has that the CycloDS doesn't (as listed on the previous page).

Cheats are limited, not badly but still limited comparatively, see http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=80008 ...i don't see why the cyclo is at such a premium price myself, it only has RTS that sets itself apart from the most basic budget carts.



edit..

about point4, if you get a cyclo make sure who sends it checks the mem card slot, becuase it's quite likely to piss you off if it does stick out, especialy after paying top dollar.

and about point 1, the scds1 menu is fine and quick, you can change folders bring up options as fast as you can navigate, the only bit I would call slow is where you actually start a rom, there's is a good 4 or 5 second pause before the game starts, if this bothers you have 2 other OS's to start them from.

One more thing... does the CycloDS have ingame text reader (like game guide?) and ingame cheats?

The only thing I prefer in the CycloDS is that their website looks professional and it isn't made up of Chinglish.

No and yes respectively, but it doesn't have an actual cheat menu like the SCDS1, just the option to toggle them globally.

MY GOD. I come in here looking for information on which is better, and instead it's just a flame war...

It's obvious that they're for the most part even, and what you get depends on what YOU like.

SCDS1 - Functionality

CycloDS - Looks (GUI wise, etc)

For the most part, the the cons pros would go something like this

SCDS1 - (Things it has over the Cyclo)
Real Time Game Guide
Real Time Cheat Code
Multi Save
Ability to choose between 3 different Menus (Negates Faster Menus in CycloDS)
Powerful OS Menu System (Hence slow)

CycloDS - (Things it has over the SCDS1)
Slow-Motion (They both seem to have this, I'm going by the website though)
Faster Menus

Seriously, I'd say the SCDS1, and I do realize that because my looking crap up (And people will argue splitting hairs in functionality) I changed the outcome or whatnot.

In any case, they're about even, and even if they WERE even, guess what? The SCDS1 is MUCH cheaper, making it the obvious choice either way.

The REAL problem is the lack of either website leaving a definitive list of updated features of any kind, and just having "MORE TO COME!" and whatnot plastered wherever.

Then again, if the half the people in this thread listed the pros and cons instead of fanboying out and saying "Bla is better than bla, and everyone else is wrong despite how correct their statements are because they said water is pink", the thread would be better.

Which brings me to another point, just because someone says one thing that might be wrong doesn't mean that they're whole post is wrong, and flaming them over it just makes you look like an ass.

P.S. I had to go to the websites, just like the ThreadStarter probably had to, because these raging trolls took over the page after like the 3rd post.

Having owned my cyclods for a few months now i realise that its a great card and in my opinion is the best (although have not used anything else).
I would however like to say a few things

1. I'm not sure about some other peoples but my cyclods does NOT have my sd card stick out.
2. The beta firmwares are constantly adding new features (although i have to admit their has been a firmware drought lately (although this could mean their preparing something big)).
3. I don't know about The Supercard team but Team Cyclops has great support and official forums (where a number of new features like ingame text reader and a ingame screenshot creator are being discussed.

I can however say that the cyclods is a little overpiced but this may be because Team Cylops are based in a english speaking country.

Sir-Fritz brings up an excellent point. The SCDS does have more features, but tech support and instructions for these features is less abundant and of lesser quality than that of the CycloDS Evolution's. It's very rare to see the SC Team post in the SC Forums, so most of the support comes from community members who happen to know a lot about the subject. As such, the CycloDS Evo support is most likely better than that of the SCDS, which is something you may wish to keep in mind.
