What was the motivation putting this in politics section rather than general? (It doesn't matter if it's technically the right place, this is pretty much exclusively where the political members hang out). It doesn't matter how good or bad the truck is, by putting the thread here it's only ever going to be about Elon-related bias.
Unrelated but, I actually don't hang out in the politics section. I just saw this thread on the right side of the homepage.

Putting aside dislike for Musk, I just find the design to be incredibly ugly and there seems to be a disproportionate number of issues and recalls with it.

That, and I find it really weird how he's decided to go all in on MAGA who generally hate EVs and alienate the crowd that would actually buy em.
I do wonder if Trumpies will consider EVs more now?

I would ask my trumpy brother who used to shit on Tesla for years, but I really don't want to get him started on a rant about Trump so I guess I'll just live in ignorance

The truth tho is Musk has more money than he will ever know what to do with so he can alienate anyone he wants

All his companies could fail and he would still be one of the richest people to ever live

Doug Demuro liked how cool it was, but I think he ultimately gave the Rivian a better overall score. I really don't know what to make of it, it's probably too big to suit where I live, but I like that it's at least trying to be different.

If you have to describe the calculation used to show it turned a profit, it didn't turn a profit.

They have not turned a profit on the cybertruck.
They probably haven't recouped the entire cost of R&D and the initial cost of all the machines etc - but they are at a point where vehicles are being sold and generating more money than is put into them

So the labor, materials, electricity etc that goes into building these things is less than people pay for it - meaning each vehicle is making some profit

And hence gross positive margin

What measure would you like to see exactly? Hint hint they all involve calculations - and this one is stupidly simple

Considering the shear number of fire hazards and red flags from the start, I'm not too happy with how the Cybertruck turned out.

What's also strange is that Elon is starting to emerge himself into every political aspect, like when he went to a MAGA Trump rally and got the crowd to buy them.

You can't believe everything you read online, people hate them so much because Musk has gone off the political deep end

I still remember when Tesla was the darling of most of these leftist spaces, and now you only ever see hit pieces in the media

I have seen a ton of cybertrucks in my city and they all seem to be just fine

Neat one I saw at the park the other day

I'm finding a bit of bias here, TC, given some of the existing posts in this thread.

For those that didn't see it, it was an image with an explanation of how water can get into the frame of the Cybertrucks, shorting the wires, and the reason why your warranty is voided when going through a carwash with it.

It's generally a rule you aren't supposed to post images without any words outside of the eof

So if there's a heavy rainfall and it's not parked in a garage???

It may have more to do with water spraying from a direction other than from above, but then again, it was suggested that the Cybertruck could briefly serve as a boat to cross rivers and such. Getting any water in there can be a problem.
