Homebrew Custom Theme Thread

I the program maker could remove the bill folders as defaults and remove any sounds from it we could make our own folders and sounds easly

Looks great :) you should add some theme music to it, maybe this:

that's really annoying.
If I follow our policy, I would have to delete all currently shared themes.
Why use the facility (easiness) to reuse copyrighted sounds and pictures and not create something yourself? :s

it will probably happen, I'll talk to other mods about this and see what we will do.
The only part of the binary that is untouched by current public theme editors is palette and CWAV. Both my themes use audio i've created myself, however some of the palette data might be the same.. but I think it'd be silly to argue that a few 0x20 chunks of RGB data is piracy, or what have you, lol.

Love it. Picked a great song too. It's the theme from your house and it sounds great!

If we get more advanced editing options, I want to make it play "OK desu ka?" when you open a game. Either that or perhaps just play the bike bell sound (probably can work both sounds in, in different spots).

Made a new one for people this is an Orochimaru curse mark theme, it has custom folders and looping background music from Orochimaru's OST Theme. Hope people like it ^_^

UPDATE: Use this newer body_LZ.bin to fix the white pixel https://www.mediafire.com/?o1xfd7x57xhdlld make sure to download the file below for the BGM file you need for the theme

So at this point we don't have a way to put custom sounds in, aside from BGM?

It's not built-in yet to the creator tools that Roxas75 released that I've seen. Anyone that has been able to edit the sounds into body_lz.bin to have custom wake sound or a launch application sound did it with their own ingenuity.

You would have to hex it in, which from what i've heard/attempted is extremely hard...

Which sound though, when you open DS, select software, or close software?

Select and closing software, editing the sound for opening is pointless if you have a looping BGM

Hey guys, I made a tiny little discovery when tweaking my own theme.

It turns out that the icons don't use inverted colors, but are instead manipulated when the theme is loaded. So basically, when you put colors into an icon in theme maker and save it, it will be displayed with colors that have approximately:

141 LESS Hue (-141H)
9 MORE Saturation (+9S)
10 MORE Lightness (+10L)

So in order to create an image that will look like you want it to on the 3DS, you have to make the inverse of those changes, so you take your image and ADD 141 hue, SUBTRACT 9 Saturation, and SUBTRACT 10 Lightness (+141H-9S-10L).

I hope that helps someone, and I hope someone didn't state this before, then I'd just look silly.

EDIT: So it turns out those numbers are just a bit off (I wanted a light blue but got purple), but I'm working on getting it right and will post the correct numbers when I find them. It may end up being some other form of color manipulation, and that the HSL values will be different for each color. The ones I've found will at the very least get you close to the color you want, so there's that. Let's see where I end up.

EDIT2: So it's starting to look like the offset in color is defined in the theme base you are using. I've tried a few different themes, and the variation in hue can be anywhere from 90 to 180. I've even had a case where the color didn't change at all! I'm starting to think these icons have a limited palette, and it's just choosing the next closest one. Who knows?

Nothing to see here...

Which part of the theme is icon?

game icon? those are only folders and icons-borders. I edited a theme's images for folders and they turned out exactly as they were in the editor.

Same for me, thats why i wondered what he classified as icons

Sorry, I didn't mean to mislead you guys. I just couldn't find the right term for the icon borders when I typed that up :P

I meant to refer to the icons where games are typically placed.
