I thought this might interest some of you here so I translated it from Spanish and pasted it here. Please note this topic on elotrolado is STILL being worked on, so if you want to keep up with the developments you can catch them there. It was updated today so it really is still ongoing.
Links are at the bottom of this post.

So has anyone here tried anything like this ??

    Warning: Spoilers inside!

If anyone is interested I might reformat the guide to make it easier to follow.

Also if anyone has any other guides for customising games other than the usual Guitare Hero and Rock Band etc, why not share <img src="style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Other than everything that was translated being repeated, it seems fairly straight forward... this could be great for custom Karaoke parties!

I think you are requesting this
    http://download.elotrolado.net/adjuntos/at...b5&bink.jpg

Take into account that at the moment there's a error in CreaContent app, in the Singstar to SingIt .xml conversion (the author is checking), so the Sing It song resulting is some tones above the right.

    Regards

Not too puter savvy, especially when written in poorly translated english. I more straight forward guide would be hugely appreciated!
Also, will this work for Pal versions of those games? If not, anyone know if the NTSC versions is compatible with a Pal wii?

I agree, if anyones done this successfully and can write a good english guide, it would be much appreciated. I've tried making a game, but everytime I rebuild the iso and try to boot from disk or usb, i get a black screen, but I didn't follow these directions exactly, i followed the ones from the spanish site.

But Creacontent works well converting songs from Ultrastar (.txt included) to Sing It.

In this case it's needed to input the time of the song (seg.mseg), it permits to see the end of the video when you're singing; In the other case ( value =000.000) the video is cut just after the last sentence is displayed.

GUIDE TO DO A CUSTOM SING IT FROM A SINGSTAR
    -------------------------------------------------------------
This is a 'simplified' (more is impossible!) translated guide (I've got to do my 5 PS2 Singstar DVD's to Custom Sing It for Wii)
IN FIRST TIME REALLY THANKS TO ALL PEOPLE FROM 'ELOTROLADO' (EOL) , this is a 'based in' EOL guide

    A) EXTRACT SINGSTAR DVD CONTENT
    ---------------------------------------------
    Configure the Extract_Singstar, modifying Extract_Singstar.ini:
bitrate = 6000; cbr: br = 192; DeleteXML = FALSE (for not deleting the files)

-Introduce DVD of Singstar or Extract by software to a Folder
    - Open Extract_SingStar_GUI.EXE, Browse to Singstar DVD reader (or Folder where content has been extracted, no Works with .ISO or images)
-Wait untill read the content, Mark All songs, select where the files of SingStar will be extracted/coverted (f.e. 'Sing It XXX/singstar XXX/)
    - EXTRACT! BE PATIENT and consider extra 4 Gb are needed
Every Song is extracted in a Folder with:
name.AVI, name.mp3 (not useful, erase), name.jpg, name.txt (Ultrastar format song) and 6 melody.xml (Singstar format song)

    B) COVERT VIDEOS FROM SINGSTAR (.AVI) TO SINGIT FORMAT (640x448 .BIK = .VID) with RAD VIDEO TOOLS
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    - Open RAD Video Tools
    - For every song: Go song folder, select .avi, press BINK* and in the next window press BATCH (you'll add every video to a batch list)
(*) For first song, after press BINK configure the window as the EOL post image:
    http://www.elotrolado.net/hilo_tutorial-cu...eto_1218230_s40
    c. Finally after all songs are added, click Start In Batch window. Takes 1-2 hours for song. Videos .BIK are created.

I DON'T USE VIRTUALDUB TO EXTRACT IMAGES FROM VIDEO TO SING IT SNAPSHOT IMAGES:
I USE DIRECTLY SINGSTAR .JPG IMAGES (SEE POINT 'D'). THE RESULT IS REALLY ACCEPTABLE!!
    Try it and decide!!

    C) NAME CUSTOM SING IT ID AND TITLE
    ---------------------------------------------------
Open a copy of SING IT.ISO with WiiScrubber.
    - On PARTITION 1 (GAME), Right button, 'Extract' 'Unencrypted partition', and extract to a New folder (f.e.'Sing It XXX/partition1/')
    - On PARTITION 1 extract one by one (Right button, 'Extract') to the folder ('Sing It XXX/) (IMPORTANT: NO TO /partitionN1/ FOLDER!!) these files:
    Partition.bin / Boot.bin / Bi2.bin / Main.dol / apploader.img

-CHANGE ID in partition.BIN with partitionbinchanger.exe
(IMPORTANT: If you don't change the ID in new Custom Sing, it will be recognised as the original game for WII)
Open Wiipartitionbinchanger.exe and load partition.bin. App is opened in 'Ticket' sheet
In 'title' change the 4 LETTERS ID changing the 8 hex numbers to get a different ID 'RxxP' (for ex. from RUIP to R04P)
Maintain final P (= PAL) (to help see Equivalences in www.asciitable.com)
After changing, Click uPDATE, accept (you'll see new ID), Click SIGN, and accept
Change is done now ONLY in 'Ticket' sheet. Do the same ID change in the 'TMD' SHEET (copy/paste)
Finally SAVE partition.bin clicking the LEFT button (IMPORTANT, there's another save button in the right side)

-CHANGE ID and TITLE in boot.bin with HEXEDITOR (fshexedit or similar)
Open hex editor, load boot.bin and change ID letters
Change 'Disney Sing It' for the tite (FOR EX.'Sing It ABBA')

-CHANGE the TITLE in main.dol with HEXEDITOR
Easiest way is searching 'Disney Sing It' (is at the end of main.dol), and change the Tile (FOR EX.'Sing It ABBA')
Don't use a more extended name than original title.

-CHANGE the TITLE in content.xml with HEXEDITOR
Open with hex editor content.xml (in partition1/ folder) and the TITLE is at the end

    D) MODIFY SING IT CONTENT with CREACONTENT
    ----------------------------------------------------------
CreaContent is a compact tool to change the content of the disc (artist / songs...) and:
    - Convert Snapshots from Singstar (.jpg) to Sing it (.TEX)
    - Convert songs from Ultrastar (.txt) to Sing It (.xml)
Convert songs from Singstar (melody.xml) to Sing It (.xml) is in DEVELOPING!!

You can modify content.xml manually with a Hex Editor.
BUT IF YOU DON'T USE CREACONTENT SOME EXTRA TOOLS ARE NEEDED TO COVERT songs and spnapshot FILES
CreaContent includes Tools to convert songs previoulsy

Using Creacontent (EDITED AGAIN, NOW MATCHES EXACTLY CREACONTENT OPTIONS)

    0) open and load content.xml (in folder /partition1/ )

    1) Erase 'normal' songs (from 1 to xx) (not ACADEMY SONGS, beginig from number 1002)
Select SONGS (CRTL+Click every song), click 'Borrar Cancion', AND CLICK 'todo' (all marks)

    2) Convert all the songs to Sing It format using creacontent
    - go to 'Utilidades' , 'Conversor Ultrastar', and one by one covert all the .txt songs to .xml
Some folfer will have two song .txt files. Convert all

    3) Add song
    - Click 'Añadir canción' (add song), 'Copiar fichero ya convertido' (copy file already converted)
    - Click the icon at the right of 'Grupo', browse and select the converted .xml file
If there's only one song, click 'Usar el mismo fichero en los 3' (use the same file in the three) to copy the path
If there're two song, browse for the paths of the two files (and for the third choose one, first or two)
You can choose the name that will appear in the game buttons (default spanish is 'Grupo', 'Parte 1' 'Parte 2')
What I do, if only one file, 'All' in Solo and blank in part1/part2.
Note: blank doesn't avoid in game to click the button in blank, it's only aesthetic...
If there're two files in ABBA, for ex. 'Girls' in Solo, 'Boys' in part1, and blank for part2
    Click 'Siguiente' (next)

'Directorio de destino del fichero xml' (destinity folder for the xml file)
click 'Copiar uno en automatico' (copy to an automatic one)
    Auto path is: /songs/XXXX/(song number)
This step will create (number song) folder and copy and rename the songs to singstar name-format (4 charact.)
    Click 'Siguiente' (next)

    'Elegir Artista (choose artist)'
Create the artist in this time, clicking 'Crear nuevo' (create new)
Write artist/group name, choose male/female (it's only for database, it has no utility)
creacontent will add the artist to database
    Click 'Siguiente' (next)

Select Source video/image folder (.vid / .tex)
Click icon and choose video (.bink) and image (.jpg) (by default the same songs folder, so appear automaticaly)
creacontent will convert .jpg to .tex
    Click 'Siguiente' (next)

'Elegir Video' (choose video) to Select destinity video/image Sing It folder
click 'Copiar uno en automatico' (copy to an automatic one)
Auto path is the same than previous step: /songs/XXXX/(song number)
This step will copy and rename .bink to vid video and .tex
    Click 'Siguiente' (next) and wait.
Click Finalizar' and song is created

Save frequently 'Content.xml' during the process
After songs is created .avi and .bik can be erased from the source /partition1 to free space in HD)

    3) Finally Save 'content.xml'

Creacontent allows to check, edit, Artis list, paths for songs, videos and snapshots
IMPORTANT: IF THERE'S A CONTENT.XML ERROR GAME WILL NOT LOAD

    E) REBUILD PARTITION1 with PartitionBuilder (v1.1 or v1.2)
    --------------------------------------------------------------------
Open app, select every file (in 'Sing It XXX/), and the Source file directory for partition1 ('Sing It XXX/partition1')
Select a folder to save (f.e. 'Sing It XXX/singstar XXX/)
Click 'Build', and Accept (size file required warning). Wait

    F) REPLACE PARTITION1 WITH WIISCRUBBER (v1.4)
    ------------------------------------------------------------
Open ISO, On PARTITION 1 (GAME), Right button, 'Load' 'Unencrypted partition', and select partition1.img created. BE PATIENT!!
If appears a 'size' error PARTITION 1 (GAME), Right button, 'resize', and put (copy/paste) the max value
EDITED: If at the end of the load appears BAD partition, CHECK you're not using partitionbuilder v1.0 and Wiiscrubber 1.4

    G) RENAME ISO with WiiISORenamerv3
    ---------------------------------------------
open the program, Load the ISO, select Title and the ID 6 letters (maintain final 4Q) we chose previously. Click 'Save'

FINALLY TRY IT CREATED ISO WITH USB LOADER

IMPORTANT: IF THERE'S A ERROR IN C) AND D) POINTS, ERASE SAVE GAME FILE IN THE WII BEFORE TRYING AGAIN!!!
IF YOU DON'T DO IT, GAME FREEZES AFTER SINGING, WHEN WII TRY TO SAVE THE RESULT

ALL ADITIONAL TOOLS CAN BE FOUND EASILY IN GOOGLE

    I think I'll give it a go.

    Although not sure how crucial:

"Convert songs from Singstar (melody.xml) to Sing It (.xml) is in DEVELOPING!!"

is in terms of whether this process actually works.

Think that the main part of the job is convert videos and content.xml.
And this is needed for songs from Ultrastar and/or Singstar.

You can convert from Ultrastar to Sing It, it works perfectly.
The only inconvenience? you'll sing the whole song.

What is in development (by Kuini) is an automatic converter of the parts songs information included in Singstar files
Untill the moment you'd have to do manually modifying the .xml created

And when tool will be developed -as I'll do- replace songs in partition1 to Singstar ones.
Rebuild partition, and to HD for USB Loader.

    Ah, ok.

Sounds like there's a fair bit of development being done so might wait til it's progressed a bit further.

To be honest, I don't understand why someone hasn't done it (or something like it) for the Wii yet ... PS2/3 has Singstar, XBox has Lips, Wii has ... Sing It (with some crummy kids songs on it).

thanks alot fergambo for the guide. I've been trying to do it from the spanish site and coudn't get anything to work because i don't know much spanish, and google translate isn't that good, your translation will really help. I will try this soon but will maybe wait for that new tool to come out.
