probably a stupid question, but i tried to do a network install, chose ios 249, but its giving me a ret = -1 error.

using a launch wii, 3.2E, cios rev 10 already installed, standard stuff.

[edit]

wifi is all set up fine, games work online fine, and stuff like homebrew browser is a-ok.

Linking to an installer shouldn't be illegal. It doesn't contain any nintendo code, it downloads everything needed from NUS. Why do the links to it get removed?

The same reason as torrent sites constantly get threats and legal action (Piratebay). They only have "links" to files but they are in a heap of crap for it. Linking to ilegal content or something that is an installer for ilegal content can leave a site like this open to prosecution. And people like Ninty would love to shut it down. All they need is an excuse.

If people post to copyright stuff and games then they could come in and close the site down as well as get the owners into a load of bother. Please stop moaning or complaining and just follow rules. Google is your friend if anything is needed

My guess is that he probably also linked to or the link contained the WAD, which is a no-no here.

There is no statement about cIOS rev12 on Wanin's blog, and it appears that the file is hosted by SoftMii. It's just like what happened with cIOS rev11.

I am doubtful about this release.

Teknoconsolas went down when Wanin was trying to release. It didn't come back up so he uploaded it to the SoftMii site so people could get it. He then likely went to bed, given what time it was. Teknoconsolas has come back up in the meantime, but I would assume he's still asleep or just doing something other than updating his site first thing in the morning.

For those who don't understand and already have an ios 249 installed (like rev8, rev9, etc), use that to install rev12 if you want to install it. You DON'T have to uninstall the previous 249 first!

fixed my problem, just did an offline install. no idea wtf was wrong with network install.

shame that mortal kombat armageddon still doesn't work with usb loader

This installs a modified version of IOS36, right? So the Wii still reads it as IOS36? When I insert Super Smash Brothers Brawl, it asks for an update (I'm on 4.0E) to install the missing IOS(s) needed to run the game. One of the IOS needed it IOS36. So if I accept the update, it will install all the new IOS(s) needed and possibly overwrite the current IOSs (that are needed to play the game). So won't it overwrite the modified version of IOS36 installed by this cIOS Rev12 and uninstall it?
