I remember paying way more for a copy when it was the only entry-point so for that its a decent price, as for a game it's kinda weird

I wouldn't buy it to be honest.
I have it and two copies of Freaky Forms Deluxe (wanted to give it to a friend who is anti-hacking to enable him to at least backup his saves).
Plutoo didn't update it since 11.1 so those games have no worth at all now...
You can buy a preflashed flashcard for little money and have homebrew via rosalina even with all the ARM11 and ARM9 services available to change the internal RTC etc...
The only use case was to get from userland->ARM11->ARM9 but now they have this unpatchable ARM9 exploit directly from boot, it is not comparable.
Getting Cubic Ninja is only nice from a collector's perspective, the game is bad, having only a userland exploit is pretty meh and a preflashed flashcard is probably around the same price.

game is pretty bad?? it sounds kinda neat actually,, heard it was hard as hell though
I only played some levels at the start because I deleted the save a lot for different payloads but the motion controls were not that enjoyable in those gaming sessions.
Smea also said in one tweet he didn't like it that much, I trust his expertise for later parts of the game.

I played the first world while waiting for a good deal on a 2DS, wasn't bad but a little tedious and not worth the full retail price (I paid 10 € so who cares lol)

Its a fun launch era puzzle title. I bought mine for like $5 used the day that ninjhax was announced, but I probably only played the game proper for an hour or so and haven't played it since. I wouldn't say its worth paying $30 though for just the game at this point.

I've got two copies of it myself. Funny enough, I bought the used one for $13, and a brand new one sealed later for $5. I still have them both because of the nostalgia for when homebrew first released on the 3DS. Reminds me of when I first was creating my Piano homebrew. (I wonder who all remember that)

Anyway, as far as gameplay goes, I think it's worth a try. And if you already played it through the freeshop and liked it, why not go for it? that way you are being legit :P

As others said, and I can relate, you will probably only play it for an hour or so before never picking it up again. Granted, every few months I will pick it up just to play the first level and then never touch it again for another few months.

I wonder if that was the point of game streaming
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    But it's a dead end
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, people who cant download it can still play the game
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

Did you feed the hamster in your internet router? It prob died and is running slow now.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

also @BigOnYa im making some progress on my gdevelop project, implemented various mechanics

They went all in on streaming, should have been more of a hybrid approach

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

Not to mention this would be a massive pain to pirate

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

im taking a break for today anyway

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
