Suggestion: A warning when you put in a game that is really really bad. Warning you not to play.

total agreement. people shouldn't have to suffer from all the ports and other crap on the wii - Only the original, or awesome stuff should be ALLOWED to play in my system

Be able to change the BGM of the system menu, Or add a MP3 player of some sort to it?

Hey all, I got a suggestion:

I personally hate having to go to the wii menu just to play a game, I would love the game to boot automatically just like it did on the gamecube!

I would love to see a configurable option where you could set autoboot on or off. Something like this:

- Autoboot off: the wii would behave like it does now. Boots to sysmenu, except when an autoboot disk is inserted or the recovery console is used.
- Autoboot on, two options:
- If there is a disk inside, boot it, unless some key combination was pressed. Then it would boot to the sysmenu/dashboard/whathever.
- If there is no disk inside, boot to the sysmenu.

It would also be great if the Wii remote could be used instead of the gamecube controller to access the rescue menu/skip autoboot/whathever. Won't that be possible once bootmii arrives? (therefore drastically reducing the chances of a permanent brick when editing critical recovery menu files, such as implementing wii remote support..

already said this, dunno if you read fors, but it would be cool to see a wiiload feature built into the dashboard, so just turn the wii on and send the elf from your pc, not need to load up HBC all the time.

Adding in wiimote support to Dashboard is pretty useless, as it takes a few seconds for the wiimote to even sync so I would have to pause the boot process and wait for the wiimote to sync, check if a button is pressed, and then continue booting. Good idea, just wish the hardware was capable of doing it without slowdown (GC controller currently is only option as it is wired).

I can implement Wiimote support into Dashboard once its displayed though, so if you dont have a GC controller you can hit the reset button to bring it up and then control it with the wiimote from there.

Im sure I'll refine the way Dashboard works as I develop it, i always do. Thanks for the input

Yeah I can do that, but it wouldnt be on by default (you'd have to select something along the lines of "Recieve DOL through TCP" from the dashboard menu). Although if you have HBC installed you can just boot right into it as Dashboard supports booting any Title currently installed, and would probably take just as long to initialize the network as HBC does.

As we are throwing put ideas - if you messing with the system menu , how about a Skinnable option with downloadable skins that can change the whole look of the system ?

Not sure how hard that would be , but it would be nice if the simple people out here (*waves*) could generate their own look for the wii in a simple way that doesnt brick the wii.

check for an image - if its not there use default ? .. something like that maybe ?

Im afraid something like that would be so tasking that it would just be easier to rewrite the system menu from scratch :/. My alternative solution to this is adding the ability to change the resource file for cSM in NAND from Dashboard. This would give everyone the ability to swap out textures as they see fit and create their own look (although the "look" of the main system menu screen is hardcoded, so you'd only be able to change colors / textures and not layout).

It would be somewhat of a lengthy process and would most likely require a guide, similar to changing banners of channels (same concept really, just on a larger scale). Best part is if you do it wrong and cSM doesnt boot, you can revert your changes from Dashboard

. That's why its there.

its not that i dont mind the network initializing, its just booting the wii, then booting into HBC then waiting then loading the .dol over a network, rather annoying when you run app then it reboots the wii, then having to load up HBC again then waiting for network. dunno how USB is working at the moment, but how about USB DVD drive, so you can leave 2 games in one in the wii one in the second drive, sellect an option to which DVD drive you wana use.

I'll probably just implement wiiload into Dashboard anyways, im all about saving steps. I dont think the running games from USB is a reality yet.

Hey Fors, it's looking good. I've read every post on this thread lol.
Once I've bought a new laptop I'll send you £5, so hold out for a good exchange rate

Dashboard thing sounds great
Keep up the good work!

Ah, just spent £38 on MK vs DCU, I'm outta cash. I wish I could donate, Fors... So, when you get your new wii, and BootMii is released... How long do you think it will be before you release it?
