I'm working on an external peripheral that adds Bluetooth audio support to the DS lite powered by Slot-2.
The idea is a board that plugs into both the DS lite's Slot 2 and the regular 3.5mm headphone jack to transmit audio wirelessly.
Here's the mockup PCB I did in KiCad. It needs some refinements but it's made to fit in the DS-lite's included dust cover.
I'm using an ESP32-PICO-D4.
It would basically be one of these Bluetooth audio transmitters but powered by the DS' Slot-2 3.3V rail.
Pros:
- Sits flush with the DS lite
- Easy to install/use compared to internal mods
- Doesn't need external power.
Cons:
- Can't use bluetooth audio while playing GBA games.
- Increased power draw, potentially worse battery life.
Everything is still very much work in progress at the moment.
I prefer this over internal mods, but let me know what you guys think.
