But Crysis has a lot of objects - it's easy to adjust everything, but on medium settings it still uses over 1GB of ram

And if "100%" = all settings "Very High" than yes, there are. I'm forcing some of the DX10 effects and have high water/textures/models/particles medium shadows/PP and it runs great

You can't ''force'' DX10 effects on a DX9 Graphics card. Way to be a BSer.
Yes, you can.

I've been playing Crysis for about a week now and I'm loving it. The biggest draw for me is that there are times that I can go full guns blazing and others where I sneak around with Cloak.

I usually don't care for games that you have to sneak around all the time since I find them kinda slow and boring, but I do enjoy it from time to time. Crysis is a great mix.

I've just started the levels with everything frozen over (after you get out of the Alien ship) and I kinda preferred the jungle setting shooting North Koreans

You can force it on a DX10 card on XP. You can not force a feature a physical thing doesn't have. That's like trying to fit 500GB on a 250GB HDD.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Ever seen a config file?

I turned on sun rays, a DX9 effect and am on XP with my X1950XT

Like I said, you can not Force DX10 effects on DX9 Graphics card, it'll get similar, but it won't look as good as DX10. My previous example stands.

If you had basic logic you could see this: Editing the config file enables everything ("4" graphic setting="very high"="DX10") that DX10 has.

If you are in Vista with a DX10 card, it's always in DX10 mode but you can access the very high setting - without either, it's greyed out.

I've seen dozens of comparison screenshots of the game running with the same settings in DX9 and DX10, and they are almost identical (if there is a difference, it's because of the slightly different times the screenshots were taken in game)

OK. Just finished the game. That last boss was hard. Not hard as in it took lots of hits to kill him. Hard as in, please make the barrage of enemy fire stop raining from the sky.

They didn't finish the story though. Expansion pack?
