VGC have posted an article saying that when running in docked mode the game will look better than the 'very low' graphic preset from the PC version. I imagine that's not very good.

It makes me think of Sonic Racing Transformed on 3DS and Fenyx Rising on Switch - both disappointing compared to more common versions.

And before someone says "What do you expect? It's handheld!"... better and it's not.

Eh if they get it running at a stable frame rate at all I’ll be impressed. It’s a game that struggles on even high end hardware, with some luck the optimisations that go into an S2 release will bleed back into the PC build.

I've had the PS5 version since day one and I've never had any major issues with the game.

Because it's optimized for the ps5. On pc, it's shit in even ps5 level hardware.
And that's all I care about, personally.

If the Switch 2 version is anywhere as good as the PS5 one (not graphically ofc) and decently optimized, I don't mind buying it again, MH on the go is always nicer.

That's where you fail. You should not expect better from a handheld. The fact is this game runs bad even on PC, why would you expect something nice from a small tablet?

Keep your expectations low so you get less disappointments.

But feel free to be vocal when you know something is just trash, like Pokémon.

Runs bad on PC due to poor optimization, but you're right not to expect much from a tablet.

What was done was folks that datamined the settings for the Switch 2 version from the recent update on PC went and produced a simulation of it with said PC version with what was allowed. This is what they got with the settings for Portable mode:

Again, a simulation based on the settings that actually work, so we can't expect this same look for Switch 2. It could be worse, or, it could be better. From the datamined settings, supposedly portable mode is meant to have an internal render of 635p, whereas this simulation footage is working with a 540p internal render.

But something to note. Based on the settings, portable mode and docked mode's Quality presets have frame rate set to around 30fps. Docked mode's Performance preset has the game set to run at 40fps. For comparison, Series S's preset is neither, but set to 25fps.
