percentages are bollox : if 0% was the day began and 100% is the finished product , then them being @ 72% must therefore assume they know whats in front of them to complete the task. as they probably dont and the percentage is in fact an estimation , then theres no difference between 70 or 72% they are just vague figures to appease.

14 x 6 months = 84 months = 7 years

It actually is possibe to detect the change in the memory being used for the game.

ROM is used in real carts and Flash RAM or EEPROM (electronically erasable ROM) is used in flash carts. All that has to be done is sending a command to the cart to read an ID from the memory. If it doesn't match that/those used in game manufacturing then it would fail. They could even top it off by erasing the memory completely. This could be one of the obstacles they are facing or maybe it was the 2%.

the ID request can be faked and the erase ignored, rewriteing from the 3ds side is useless anyway
