Any size sufficient to hold your emunand!

If you want a Gateway-compatible one, use "full" - almost every other CFW supports the more space efficient rednand, for which "min" is enough

The reason for the options is that when repartitioning the SD for emunand, you're not necessarily forced to use it on your console

I don't want to be limited in any way but if i can save space i'd like that too.
So then I can just choose 1 GB.. ? or what is the smallest size i can use?

Btw is this the actual size i can use to install games for..?

Then the most efficient options are "min" "rednand"

(well, the really most efficient option is no rednand or emunand at all, lol)
Eh.. but i already choose full like you told me, so i need to redo it and choose min, and rednand?

LoL with the latest sentence you mean, emunand takes space therefore not as effecient as 100% sysnand? otherwhise youre confusing me :P

EDIT:
When i choose min it says clone sysnand to rednand now? I choose no?
Also i notice now 236.6 gb on sd when before it was 238 gb.. This is with max.
With min i get 237.2 gb

Correct, if you don't have gateway, emunand/rednand only have disadvantages, unless you really want to have two operating systems installed on your console and alternate between them

Great! thanks alot for your quick reply
So now I just copy back my 200 GB sysnand stuff, and then how can i switch between emunand and sysnand?
Is this done by holding select and changing something in the menu here?

In Luma settings, you can indeed select if you prefer to boot rednand/emunand or sysnand

You don't need to always change that option; you can boot the other one by holding a button (probably R, but check in the Luma documentation on github)

I just did the whole thing.
And I get an error on boot:
An error has occured
Failed to mount CTRNAND. press any button to shut down

Please help :(

If I hold L my sysnand succesfully boots. but no emunand.

The option i choose i luma is. Autoboot Emunand.

No, my sysnand has 300 titles installed that uses like 200 gb lol.so i could never copy that to the 20 gb i have left?? if im understanding correctly
no lol what are you on about. Sysnand is the chip on the console it has to clone that to make a working emunand. Not the games installed to the sd :rofl2::rofl2:. If you don't clone it you don't have an os to boot

Im confused.. i installed my games on the sysnand os no? i didnt create emunand untill just now.
Yes games are on sd but its linked to the os on the nand?

If i clone sysnand, it would try to copy the game entry titles too which is not what i need?
Can you tell me the exact steps i need to do now?

Basically i want a sysnand with my 300 titles and an emunand for extra titles to isntall more on. with the 20 gb i have left.

Ok.
So what do i need to exactly?? Sorry but im not so technical with all this.
OK so you open godmode9 and press home, then press SD format options and chose rednand min size if it asked you to clone say yes. After that you will need to install tiny format to the emunand to format it like new.=more than 300 titles! Profit!

Ok so I already done first part, but install "tiny format to the emunand???

EDIT:
You mean this?
https://github.com/javimadgit/TinyFormat/releases

But how do i use this? because it's a cia/3ds i can't run this from godmode or from sysnand nor emunand (since that has error)??
Where to use this.

EDIT2:
Used this and it wiped EVERYTHING. now it shows initial 3ds setup.. after taking 5 mins (literally) to create home menu. it now freezes in the OS.
am I now fucked?:(
EDIT3: copying my 200 GB backup back, because this obviously is not helping.
