Can anybody point me in the right direction as to how to create my own key.bin file.

I have the "magic" common key updated in my system registry & have been using Trucha Signer without any problems, however in order to use the 3-in-1 patch tool I need to have the common key in the same directory as the exe file.

1) Is there a way I can copy the common key from the system registry?
2) If not, how do I create my own using UltraEdit & what does it have to contain?

The key is a string of hexadecimal numbers make a new file in a hex editor and just copy and paste the numbers from the registry file into the hexadecimal section (not the ASCII section). There is nothing more to it.

In that case I must be more stupid than I thought!!! I am still not having any luck.

This is the file I have created in hex editor (obviously with the correct values instead of AA BB etc)

WHat have I done wrong?

Screenshot looks the same here when I load my key.bin in XVI32.. it should start with EB E4.

Thanks epu708 - I downloaded that app & tried but with no luck!

I am totally lost now

What filename are you saving it as?

Think that tool expects it to be called "ckey.bin"

Problem solved!

My common-key was fine all along & it turns out that the problem was that WiiFrii does not work with the Mario Kart iso & always displays the error "common-key missing." I tried the Super Monkey Ball iso & it works without any problem!!

So I guess my question all along should have been "how can I play Mario Kart in English on my Japanese Wii"
Guess I should start a different topic!

Thanks to everyone who tried to help me.
