Gaming Crazy Intros

After looking into http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Crazy_Intro Crazy Intros, I thought I'd get it. But first, could you help me understand some things?

Is it like one of those .dol files that you open preloader (i use priiloader) and press 'install file' and you can autoboot to installed file?

Also, on the wiibrew page it says Warning! This homebrew makes permanent changes to your Wii's flash memory (NAND) and should be used with caution.
But, this is just a homebrew app right? What changes does it make that I need to be worried about?

I have priiloader, but bootmii as ios if that means anything at all

Yes.

You don't. Tons of apps make changes, including Priiloader, BootMii, and the Homebrew Channel.
