Thanks for the suggestion but this didn't work for me. I have tried putting values in 'FDS=', such as fds_case, sfc_box, cd_case, snescart_box, sega_cd, gameboy_jp, smallcart_box, etc, but none work properly.

I get different views when I change the 'FDS=' entry in platform.ini, so I know my plugin ini file and magic number are correct.

I'm not using any theme. All my other plugins display properly.

Update - I found a fix, I have edited the sourceflow and rotated the image display. Job done.
have you tried reloading cache and then press 1 from the wiimote to switch views when you placed it
FDS = fds_case
I have that configuration and the covers are facing the right way

if he's not using any theme then he's using the default.ini in wiiflow/themes_lite/coverflow. in which case i probably never added a coverflow for FDS. most likely should replace default.ini with the one from rhapsodii shima and rename it default.ini.

I hadn't read correctly that it didn't have a theme, I assumed it did

New SNES Shrunken Spine Set released!! Link here and on page 1 of this thread.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/z18q...%281248_%2B_271_Alts%29_-_2022_05_03.zip/file

A few things I would like to point out about this new set...

The front of the covers focused on the cover art. I removed all the side texts, promo ads, trademarks, company logos, ect. and just focused on the art. All company logos are in their new respectable place. Only one game got the pass on this and that's because any other way would have messed the cover up IMO and it's Maui Mallard in Cold Shadow.

Replaced all the "Only for Nintendo" banners to the same. Except for the unique one on the official Super Metroid. I kept them on just the covers that had it on the official releases. Very few are provided using the banner as an alternate. That's just usually to match with the rest of the series. Usually the hacks don't have them since you can play it anywhere now.

The spine is pretty much the same except the new brand logos. I tried to keep the titles more uniformed in size but sometimes needed to either go wider or tighter depending on the title logo. The spines looks good, kinda like how the logos look on the vertical SNES covers.

The back is all uniformed. I later went and removed the game id numbers in the upper right corner. Some games had it, some didn't, others that did was either big or small, so I just eliminated all of them together so the covers would be more uniformed with each other. A handful of older covers had the grey SNES back panel replaced as well. Some were also retyped to read easier. I used photoshop and Ebrina type with size 10 for most.

Game overviews written on the back were collected from different sources.

The company logos. I changed a few things. Most company logos are new and the same. No multiple types of one brand. EA Sports games are Electronic Arts, Accolade Sports is just Accolade and so forth. Bandai is different. I have both Banpresto and Bandai, but not Angel, Angel was replaced by Bandai.

The barcodes. As far as I know, about 99.9% of the numbers are right. I looked up every one that was unknown and double checked the rest. However some of the bars are not. I just used the default Super Mario World to fill it in and it seems to work fine with the right numbers. I didn't have any programs so I just used what I had. The hacked versions has the native game barcode. The prototypes and unreleased titles has all 0's. Homebrew titles has all 9's.

The Names for all titles have (USA) since it's the USA NTSC cover format. Some games are in Japanese like Hammerin' Harry but it's USA format cover. Hopefully someday we'll get a translation release. Some of the games have the (Cracked) in the title. I find those games don't work from the No-Intro set and had to be found elsewhere. So I left that part in the titles. The Japanese translations all have their translated titles with English logos. Games like Sailor Moon and its long subtitles I just shorten. So instead of "This Time I'll Punish You with a Puzzle!" I just shorten it to Puzzle Punishment! There are a few dupes in the set. Cameltry is On the Ball, Super Nova is Darius Force. There's a few others. It's just a name thing to keep the games together and adds flavor to the set IMO.

All the material and resources were provided by everybody in the community I could found online. I went and searched for everything I could and clean it, modified, tweak it, ect. What I couldn't find I put together myself, and there's a lot of that.
As far as I know, all USA games are covered. A huge number of PAL games converted to USA cover format as well as a few Japanese titles. I know I'm missing maybe 3-4 Japanese translations since I couldn't get good resource material. Everything else is just in the mix.

Alternate covers. There's a lot now. Some I updated from the old set. Others are new so it's a mix. Some of the alternates I added a bit more to them so they could be used for hacks. Two examples would be Yoshi's Safari and Alien 3. I also tried to make all Japanese official art first for the translations titles and custom art afterwards.

I tried not to make the covers look to generic by adding artwork on the back of some of them. But I wanted to keep everything simplified at the same time. All covers had a final smart blur added to them to get rid of the grainy look and blend a few things in the background a lot better.

This set took about 2 years to put together and went through many changes to get to this point. I'm finally glad for the official release. Anybody who wants to make the 3D carts, boxes, crop for the Mini Classic's, multiman, ect are more then welcomed to do so but please share them here when you do. Last but not least, enjoy the new covers!

I’ve done enough of this kind of work to know that this was a job that couldn’t have even happened without two dedicated years of passionate work. A monumental accomplishment. Congratulations @ToddofWar420!

This set is siiiiiiiiiiick as fuuuuuck, it's just phenomenal. Will continue to report as i build this setup.

The only boxcovers i contributed to this endeavor that are of note are now just... Picross NP vols 1-8, so if whoever manages the archives wants to include that, or put them off to the side in a separate link on the first page, here's a link to just those 8 covers. https://www.mediafire.com/file/3ctjjtgn1j1a25s/Picross+NP+Covers.zip/file

Maybe one day i'll make them like... Good, one day. i don't think they really stand alongside ToddOfWar's work, but they're There, if anyone wants them lol.

this collection inspires awe in me, it is truly the definition of awesome.

Thank you very much @ToddofWar420 , that's colossal amount of work. I hope you've enjoyed the process, it's tough but sometimes this kind of work can be relaxing with some good music and the right "state of mind".
Do you plan to still making them for upcoming translations and so? I'm feeling inspired to do so after seeing this after finishing the theme I'm working on for Wiiflow.

Thank you. SNES is one of the systems I usually stay up to date with as far as good hacks, homebrew, and translations go.
I'll continue to make more covers, but don't expect an update anytime soon until it gets big enough for a release.

i just wanna reiterate how much i love this collection. There's little touches here that really make it stand out. Just to take an example, let's look at Bahamut Lagoon: you made the dragon's wing poke out over the box cover in a way that some of these box designers did in the 90s professionally. And i see these touches all over a bunch of custom boxcovers, which, i gotta say, the ones you did for ROMhacks are just so good. Super Luigi RPG in particular i must highlight. This is so above and beyond and just absolutely comprehensive, it is incredible. I am going to attempt to create database files for the SNES system worthy of standing alongside these boxcovers, like, i'm actually already in the middle of it. Furthermore, when i have some free time, i think i'll try to make real boxcovers mostly for the Picross NP games. I have a Thing for Picross. my dummy ones are just that: dummies. But they serve their purpose, for now.

Thanks man. I really appreciate the kind words and comments.
I definitely poured a lot of love into this set and I'm really glad to see that even the littlest things get noticed.

https://www.mediafire.com/file/6mxbabv95cnznm8/SNES+Data.7z/file So i have done my best to "update" the SNES database files. I have tried my best to separate out pirate carts and romhacks from the rest of the database by putting them at the end, but it's really not perfect in that regard. However, it should have most of the ROMhacks that are on MarioCube as well as those featured in ToddOfWar420's new coverset. I took new gameID numbers from pages on romhacking.net, smwcentral, metroidconstruction, or i used the last 6 digits of the SHA-1 of the zip file of the ROM. So it's not perfectly consistent, but it's extremely functional. I tried to maximize the number of snapshots and cart-disks available too using scraping tools, though i think someone with more knowledge than me should confirm the cart_disk files are Correct. The snapshots i can verify though.

As for what's missing, i collated some lists using scripts.

The python scripts ive made for analyzing libraries has been quite useful. Anyway, I'm crossposting this to the database thread and the wiiflow plugins thread.

Expect a whole new Satellaview database soon, too. No cart_disks for that obviously, but that's obvious.

Is there a data sheet somewhere which, for each cover type, tells us the dimensions of each part of the cover? I especially want the PlayStation (cd_case_psx) cover parts dimensions.
I would love to have those for the cart boxes one too. NES, Genesis, SNES...

...i just encountered a startling fact: the back-cover dimensions of CreatiVision boxcovers don't seem to match the front cover dimensions. Like the spine is ever so slightly off center, but it doesn't appear to display wrong in WFL.

What gives? How is this coded? What are the dimensions coded for when turning boxcover pngs into a 3D box?

LOL - that's crazy!

But you know what, in the world of print design that kind of thing can be normal. Printed inserts sometimes need to be slightly assymetircal to accommodate the injection mold or production artifacts. In some instances one side needs to be shorter to accommodate the equipment that assembles the package. And before that, trimming (cutting) of artwork can easily be off by 1/64th, and in extremely bad cases, all the way to 1/8th of an inch. Designers are taught to design for a 1/8th inch tolerance at that size (and 1/4 inch tolerances for very large pieces). If you go looking for this, you'll find it everywhere, but most people are never ever going to notice the difference between 484 and 480 pixels. The problem is, now that you've seen it, you can never un-see it!
