I think you need to get the new sig patches for 8.1.0 https://gbatemp.net/threads/i-heard-that-you-guys-need-some-sweet-patches-for-atmosphere.521164/
You need to put the "exefs_patches" and "kip_patches" folders in the atmosphere folder on your SD and remove the existing ones when you are asked to. If you did exactly that and still didn't work then I am not sure what causes the problem, I had exactly the same issue and that solved it for me
