controls randomly changed in ssbm on nintendont

i just started playing ssbm through nintendont on my gamepad and about 30 minutes into playing, the controls randomly changed. instead of A being the select and regular attack button, B is. and instead of B being the back and special attack button, Y is. How do i fix this?

What controller are you using? For many controllers, Nintendont has a feature to change the button mapping by pressing Minus or Select which makes the button layout more similar to GameCube by rotating the face buttons clockwise. Pressing Minus or Select again changes it back. You must have pressed it by accident before.

try pressing select or select and start

You accidentally hit select(or -), this rotates the ABXY buttons clockwise once, hit select again and it will go back.
