From the developers of the pretty average Drawn To Life and the excellent mobile game Siege, comes what is described as "Warcraft meets Rampart" which to me spells fun.

From IGN:
"In Construction Combat: Lock's Quest, players create a virtual world block-by-block to defend their homeland against invading enemies. With the innovative use of the Nintendo DS stylus, players will be able to immerse themselves into the building and creating process.

You assume the role of young hero Lock as he defends his homeland from the imminent attack of robotic invaders. As an Archineer -- part architect, part engineer -- Lock uses his skills to build new structures around the sacred Source Artifacts with the ultimate goal of protecting them from infiltrators. Players can utilize different materials such as stone, metal, or wood to create and design defence towers in the battle field. There are also quirky weapons such as quicksand traps and glue cannons that the player can use to attack enemies.

Construction Combat: Lock's Quest combines the action/adventure and life simulation genres in a fast-paced broadly appealing game consisting of successive waves of building and battling. Elements of strategy and puzzle-solving are also incorporated to reward more sophisticated players. Players will be able to battle with friends through multi-card play or Wi-Fi."

Sounds like a fun game and something the DS needs. Its apparently out in the "Fall" or Autumn to you & me.

IGN has a "hands on" preview:

Sounds like its more in line with Heroes of Mana & Final Fantasy RW, so RPG/Strategy sort of thing but adding to the genre rather than just stealing ideas. So far it is looking very promising, I really look forward to this and its nice that THQ are finally trying to get NEW IP's out there instead of the same tired licensed stuff, though I'm sure they've got plenty of them this year.

Haha, yeah, I just saw the Hands-on by IGN.

Seems pretty good. Graphics look more better and crisp-er than Drawn to Life.
Hmmm, seems pretty cool, certainly innovative, but I don't think the 'Building my own Fort' shizz is gonna last me a while. I need myself some Soma Bringer man.

Looks good, anime style not so much though.
Guess Im just tired of anime style everything.
Wish they would come up with an origonal name.
It sounds very, well, bland.
Infact kinda sounds like some sorta cheap kids game with tractors or some such.

I wonder if it will be any good.
Rampart is just fun :3

Yeah they should definitely change the name.

Name is just "Lock's Quest" now, which sounds like some homebrew GBC RPG game.
