Hiya Temp, Happy Easter first off! I'm confused about running a Visual Style. I have the file but don't know what the hell I have to do. Can anyone lead me to a page that has a tutorial or explain it by posting here? I really wanna try new stuff out and see what I get. Does this require any coding experience at all?

Thanks, and once again, Happy Easter to you and your families.

EDIT: I'm currently running a laptop from HP, it's a DV4 and it has Win 7 Home Prem. if that helps.

Gotta download and run uxtheme patcher so you can actually use the stuff.

Then after head out to the C:\Windows\Resources\Themes folder then drag and drop/copy/cut/whatever the 'Windows Theme' file and the folder into it.

Sorry for asking Twiffles but what do you mean "actually use the stuff?" No coding involved or any registry edit progs?

Quick update: Uhhhhh I ran the UXTheme patcher but it says an unsupported OS is detected, but it's genuine windows 7? what;s happening!?

Quik Update 2: Got the Windows 7 version for UXthemes, now what? I have a themeui.dll, a uxtheme.dll and shsvcs.dll...

Instructions:

1. Download Universal Theme Patcher. Run in it Administrative mode (right-click > "Run as administrator"),

UAC must be turned off.
After patch, restart the computer to take effect.

2. Extract contents (Blahblah.theme & Blahblah folder) into C:\Windows\Resources\Themes
and double-click on Blahblah.theme
Then restart to make sure everything works properly.

Thank you Twiffles, I'll try this out in a bit and get back to you. Gotta go do some work for now, I'll PM you if I require further assistance. Thanks for the patience and happy Easter!

Highly unsuccessful at Visual Styling, not gonna mess with scary files like that again. Does VistaGlazz work with Win 7?

Apparently the explorer.exe and some other file that I forgot stopped running on reboot. Maybe it was the theme... I dunno.

Great, that failed too. DWM.exe and explorer exe failed to work with this application was the error, forgot the code. All i know was that I had a black screen for a desktop. Had to use System Restore 4 times today, great. I dunno what I did wrong either...

EDIT: Well, I figured it out. Have no idea what I did but it works sort of, thanks to the members on the temp, mainly Twiffles and Minox_IX for help and recommendations. Happy Easter to you guys!!!!

You're welcome. We're a community after all, we help each other out.
