I'm betting this is the hard drive going through a sleep/ wake cycle every ~5 secs. Did you use the software suite that came preloaded on the passport drive, to edit the drive settings?

In the settings section, you can set the drive to never go to sleep, and save it to the drive, so it survives a power off.

To see if it's a sleep cycle issue, do the Mario Kart test WHILE RUNNING THE GAME UNDER 249REV20. Mario test is pausing the game just before finishing a race - leave it for 1/2hr, and come back and resume the game. If the game hangs/crashes at the finish line, it's because your drive went to sleep. Running under Hermes CIOS222 etc., will prevent the drive from causing this problem, but will cause the drive to perpetually spin up and down (like you're experiencing?). This will likely shorten the life of the drive.
I've read this: Guide: WD Passport Spindown Fix, a temporary one anyway . Took my hard drive casing apart and hooked it up with SATA on my Desktop PC. Did exactly like the guide said. But I still get this problem happening through Config USB Loader. I was told Western Digital doesn't have any software outside the hard drive to change the power save/sleep settings. When I got mine off eBay, didn't have any software to do so. Maybe I need to use hdparm again from the guide. I was told you don't have to take the hard drive apart and can hook it up through it's USB connection. I would rather do that, taking the casing apart is a pain.

Last, if anymore help, I'll try the Mario Kart Wii advise to see if it hangs/crashes to see if it goes to sleep.

Oggzee;

I think there is a bug in any version of v61/222.

I did an online update from v60/222 to v61b/222 and after doing that I noticed that my Wiimotes would lose sync when I exit our of a game by hitting home and choosing the System Menu button.

If I do a hard reboot everything is fine.

My system is set up with Priiloader 5 set to Auto boot NForwarderCFG.dol and also set to auto boot on return to.

My config text has the folowing entries in it return_to_channel = FDCL and home = reboot.

I downgraded to another version of v61a and had the same issue, when I went back to v60, everything was fine.

Just wanted to let you know.

I had the same problem. Ran 61b/249/FAT32 off channel forwarder. Wiimotes won't sync and clock displays wrong time. Problem is fixed by running from HBC or using new forwarder on front page.

I don't use HBC that much, like I said I have CFG set in the Autobot.
I'll either try the fowarder on the home page or wait to see if the final release of 61 fixes it.

I've just updated to the latest cfg (61b2) and my .mod files no longer play - was this purposeful or is it a bug? They were working fine in the previous version (v60 release, iirc). The config file still points to the correct directory (music = sd:/usb-loader/music/).

Anyone else had this happen and can tell me which is the latest version with music still working? If not I'll work my way back until it starts working again.
Can you try these two and let me know if it works:
http://cfg-loader.googlecode.com/files/cfg61t1.dol
http://cfg-loader.googlecode.com/files/cfg61t2.dol
I don't normally use music, but ran a test anyway, since I've seen this pop up a few times lately. It looks like it's only an issue with .mod files, .mp3 files are fine. Results below.

cfg60 = .mp3=y, .mod=y
cfg61b2 = .mp3=y, .mod=n
cfg61t1 = .mp3=y, .mod=y
cfg61t2 = .mp3=y, .mod=n

If you'd like me to test anything else, let me know.

CFG loader v57 (222). I did try out v60 & still got the same result. Drive is NTFS formatted & using cIOS 249rev14...

This started only recently...
There's your problem (probably). You need rev18 or higher to support NTFS drives with IOS249. You were probably using an old version of Cfg from before we added FAT/NTFS support to IOS249; those versions would automatically choose IOS222 instead because 249 couldn't boot the games back then. Update to rev20base56 or rev19, or install a -222 version of Cfg to use IOS222 instead.

Ok, sorry for not making myself clear. I can still select the games in list mode just that all the text is missing. However, I am not able to configure anything since I am blindly scrolling through the options which are supposed to be there but just that I can't see it.

Need some urgent help here. Anyone knows what's wrong? When I launch CFG recently, the text in the GUI is missing...

Looks like you have the same problem as this guy: FoGBaV

Check his other posts to see what have we tried ti figure out the problem, but in the end it looked like the drive was problematic:

I found that f*** bug - not displaying this f** chars in the console ...
It's that f*** harddisc ... or some game there ...
i exchanged the hdd with another one ... and options and menue is back !
Yehaaaa !
However it might be related to some other problems, there's a couple of things you can try, and also i can make some test/debug versions if nothing will work.
What to try:
- try some older versions, like 59, 55, 50, 45 and let me know if any of those works.
(btw what fs do you use? fat/ntfs/wbfs?)

- try enabling debug=1 in meta.xml

- try with some USB key instead of HDD

- try running without a hdd, just with an SD card (use device=SDHC)

Let me know when you have tried all of the above what are the results then i can try to make some debug version to test.

Is there a problem with Hermes cIOS'es and the new games? H.A.W.X. 2 doesn't work with v.5.1 on Cfg 60, I was able to play it only with rev20.

Hi, There is the possibility of adding support for the forwader DCFG of pepx on the arguments in the meta.xml?

So ... has anyone got Black Ops working on CFG Loader yet with multiplayer and zombie mode both working ?

I see the thread in the Hacking forum mentions using cIOS 249 and 224. I am running the 222 (Hermes v4.x) version. Do I need to update from v61 ? Or just turn on some other options ?

Oggzee my friend, please take a look on this: http://gbatemp.net/t264014-black-ops-ap-pr...t&p=3253587

wtf ist that? you must load ios 224 before you start cod:bo with ios 249 base 57, otherwise multiplayer don't work ?!?

Can confirm this is working.

1. You start your "usb loader" with either wanins cIOSr20base57 or hermes cIOSv5.1base57
2. Then set the game to start with the other one.

Example: Your usb loader uses Wanins cIOS to run then you should set the game to use hermes cIOS or vice versa.

Hey guys, is there a way to use the colon in a game title without using titles.txt? The reason I would prefer not to use titles.txt is because I want to have control over every game title (some titles in the database are too long).
