Why can't all forwarders relate to CFG have the same channel ID? Perhaps make the ID "CFGF" (Configurable USB Loader Forwarder).

someone may want to have more than 1... for example, someone may want to use my generic forwarder channel for a different usbloader and a second forwarder channel for cfg usb loader. And if they share the same title ID, you can't have both installed at the same time.

Anyways, anyone who cares about the title ID's being consistent among all the different forwarders would likely know how to change the title ID in showmiiwads or customize mii.

The reason for my question is because it'll be easier to explain how to set up "return_to_home".
When someone asks "How to I return to CFG instead of the system menu"? We can say "add 'return_to_home = CFGF' to your config.txt file".

I see where u are coming from, and I personally would even prefer it your way (since I have no use for multiple usb-loader channels anyways). But there have already been too many channels made and shared... even if I were to change the title id of my channels and re-upload them, there would still be countless people with the older channel. Not to mention that some channel makers are not very active anymore (ie. the amazing pepxl) and I doubt they would change the title id of their channels.

It's probably easiest to ask the user what channel he's installed then tell them the appropriate title ID to put in their config.txt. Or, just link the user to w/e channel you recommend and tell them to install it with a wad manager and add w/e line to the config.txt

Anyways, like I said, I personally like the idea of a common title id... but I doubt people sharing the files will care enough to change the title id and rehost it. Sorry to disagree with u, but feel free to pursue your idea despite my thoughts.

he answered you quite appropriately with this, i think:

thats why one size (name) wont fit all, in this case. it'd be easier to remember one social security number if we all shared just the one, but i dont want the 'legally modify any wii' guy's shitty credit screwing up the modmii guy's, ya know?

Why would you need two CFG fowarders?

i dunno, why is it easier to potentially ask everyone who writes a forwarder to give it the same title id rather than just ask them what title id theyve already used?

we're splittin' hairs here, and trying to create a solution for a problem that doesn't really exist for people with even rudimentary reading skills, right?

One for playing and the other for testing.

i.e,

you have the original cfg channel installed on your nand...emu nand...etc, and now you want to costumize the channel to your liking (sound, banner, icon, pic etc..). before you delete the original one, you install the new channel to use different ID. test if you like you keep if not...

with halloween just around the corner, thats a great idea.

Actualy i have 2 channels:

1st is for my kid with her birthday party....=> She clicks only this channel to play her games...like Dora ...kai-lan...harvest moon...barbie and so on... I also used the first 4 letters from her name as channel ID...(you forget as you get old..lol)

2nd channel...well..its for me and the bunch with multiplayer games and some point and shoot...and this still uses the original ID

you can also create as many as you want and they dont have to be linked to usbloader, they can be linked to any app on your SD or USB drive

return_to_channel = DCFG

don't work for me

BTW: i edit the forwarder, replaced the dol with v60

I'm in the same boat, I assume that DCFG is the wrong ID, so how do I find the correct one, The forwarder I use is the one supplied by ModMii.

use anytitle deleter
to see the wad ID

yeah maybe........ but this is a "Nintendo" forum not a "Sony" forum

@CFG USB-Loader Team, how stable do you consider NTFS write support? Is it stable enough for me (and ModMii) to stop warning people about installing games to an NTFS partition?

also, what is the default setting for the ntfs_write option? Is the "norecover" setting safer than "1" while still maintaining the ability to write to ntfs?

PS. I got a PM from someone saying that cfg usb loader can now load covers off of NTFS partitions... this sounded wrong to me and I couldn't find any documentation about that in the changelog, can you confirm that covers cannot be loaded off of NTFS and it still only works off of FAT32 or an SD card?

Thanks guys, keep up the great work!

I nice litle function I miss is a redownload cover option. No need to redownload all covers but an option to do this for a single game would be nice and handy

A function that does something like this...
  • Delete current game covers for the chosen/current game.
  • Download covers once again (maybe even an option to select region of the covers you prefer to downlod, maybe even a preview of the covers that's available)

i thought that if you left arrow selected download covers as opposed to right arrow select, it did just this.

Edit: You're right!

Thanks for the tip!

It seems pretty stable, and yes, covers can go on an NTFS partition too. You use ntfs:/ as the path for the first NTFS partition on the drive, or you should also be able to use game:/ if the covers are on the partition with the games.

Question: Is there a feature or is it plausible to hope for a feature where the saved data for a game is loaded from and saved to the USB hard drive/SD card rather than the Wii memory? Then that way if I take my hard drive to a friends house, we have the save files as well. Thanks!
