why not just use wbfs?
Fat32 and ntfs seem to be the right way to go. The games take up slightly less space on the drive. You can manage the games with windows explorer. If you need to use the drive for other purposes temporarily, you can. And for fat32, you can store apps, roms, game covers, etc. if you'd like. Though, I plan to keep using my sd card for all of that and keep my hdd for games only.

I just partitioned my hdd, 10gb fat32 for covers, homebrew, etc, and 450gb wbfs, works fine for me...I don't even use an sd in my wii. Using fat32/ntfs, you have to convert your .iso to .wbfs, whereas I only have to use wbfs manager to install games to my wbfs partition

you dont have to convert .isos to wbfs files iso loading is already supported

so is on one else having problems booting discs on 52b or is it a pal issue like clippers was saying

cant wait for ntfs support!!!
It has support for NTFS already

You can load from .wbfs or .iso files directly
The only thing that doesn't work is disc ripping

If the ISO fits

If its more than 4GB, it won't fit on FAT32

you can always scrub the iso

What a helpful post. From what we can see in your signature (

) your internet connection is also "soo 1990's"

Is it even possible to play online with a ping of 41ms?

is wii backup manager the only way to transfer an ISO to a fat32 USB drive?

I've been trying to get this thing to work but it doesn't seem top want to work for me.
if there's an alternative I'd like to try it.

Don't forget to install Microsoft .net Framework 3.5 first if you don't already have it.

Once .iso files are converted to .wfbs, games are a lot easier to backup or transfer to another hard drive. No "middle-man" app to deal with. Just drag and drop. Plus, with FAT32 there's no wasted unusable space as apposed to a WBFS formatted hard drive. Maybe you should state exactly what's annoying to you about .wfbs files.

I assume you mean .wbfs files?
Cause there is no "drag and drop" for WBFS partitions

Yup. That's what I meant. I'll fix my post.

I'm sure this question was posted before, but 539 pages make it impossible to read the entire post looking for the answer so i will ask it (again).

How can I download the game covers for all my games at once?

Can anyone help me, please? I'm a bit of a noob so sorry if this is a dumb question. I have my cousins external hard drive with wii games (1 TB). I am trying to transfer those games to my external so I am able to play those games. I downloaded wbfs file. But when I open it and plug in the TB with the games on it, it does not read that any games are on it. I switched the letter drive to E and refreshed and they are still not there. I assume I'm doing the correct process to transfer these games but don't understand why it's not working.

From README-CFG.txt, included in every release of Cfg and linked in the first post of the thread:
README-CFG.txtDownloading covers
------------------

Covers can be downloaded for all games at once or on a per-game basis.
To download the covers for all games go to Global Options screen, move
to "" and press button RIGHT or LEFT.
There is a difference between LEFT and RIGHT buttons:
- button RIGHT will download all MISSING covers.
- button LEFT will download ALL covers, even the ones that are already present.
To download the covers for the current selected game, go to Game Options screen,
move to "Cover Image:" option and press RIGHT or LEFT. The same difference between
RIGHT and LEFT buttons apply here as with download all covers.
The way how the covers are downloaded can be further customized with config options
download_* and url_*. See the documentation on these options below in the Config file section.

I was playing NSMB last night and noticed the wii accessing the drive every so often. this would cause the music to stop for a few seconds.

I have seen other games access the drive too. Is this normal?
