What "Allocation unit size" should I use in FAT32Format for best performance? 16384 or 32768?
The answer is on the top of this page of posts

Noth over 2GB, but under 4gb so there would only be 1 wbfs file (RKME5D Mortal Kombat: Armageddon 3.84GB and RXDE4Q DisneyThinkFast 3.42GB) and used Wii Backup Manager by fig2k4 to convert them using a 4GB split format put them onto my main drive and tried to play them.
...
I use WBFS Backup Manager because I'm not good with command line apps and really wasn't sure how to do it wit wbfs_file from Oggzee.
I have tried MK:A now and it works fine for me using fat, 4gb split, cfg48, wbfs_file. It looks wii backup manager gui is really having problems with creating the .wbfs files, so I recommend using wbfs_file until the gui tool is fixed. There are more similar reports in the wii backup manager thread:

QUOTE(nikeymikey @ Nov 21 2009, 07:18 PM) Just tried adding 2 more games to my HDD using the 4Gb split option, both give black screen upon loading.
Re did the split using wbfs_file 1.7, both games worked fine.
A bug???

Thanks Oggzee,

That's what I suspected, I just haven't had time to try it yet.
I'm going to convert them now and try again, when my son get's tired of playing (which may be a while).

I re-split all my games over 2Gb using the re-split bat file you made and everything split fine, no errors or crashes.
I played a couple of the games that were re-split and they played fine.

Apparently there are issues with the WBFS Backup Manager from fig2k4.

Hope he works them out, it's a great tool for those who aren't good at command line.

Before I go buy a new one is there anything else that anyone would recommend?
You could try copying Wii Sports (0.62GB) to a usb memory stick as a test for the loader.
it's the frackin hard drive! there's like 1100 bad sectors on it........crap in a hat! Thanks for all the help here though.

If it's a WBFS-Partition, have you tried Wiims WBFS Tool, and the

command? This will maybe fix it...if not, you can start again, and reformat it with this tool...best WBFS Library outthere.

i'm wondering what's the problem here, but this happened after i installed cios249rev15 and v47....

MPTrilogy keeps freezing when i try return to the Wii Menu... (haven't tried Reset yet)

i'm on 3.2U.. and i'm using 223-mload, blocking IOS reload, to load up the game using alt-dol from Disc...

it's not really that big of a deal, all 3 MP games start normally and play normally, but i just always get scared when my Wii freezes...

on a related note... dual-layer games like SSBB doesn't have any problems...

sorry if this has already been fixed in v48 or answered before already

I have a bug report...sort of. See, I have this one game that evidently the Wii is having all kind of trouble reading (not sure why, but all my other games ripped fine so it must just be this disc). Had to re rip my games because of my own foolishness.

Anyway, it reads it for a bit then errors out. The thing is, it leaves a partial WBFS file on the FAT32 partitition, and I can't try again until I exit the loader, go to Windows and plug-in the drive, delete it, and then go back, start it back up again...etc. It keeps having an error that reads like "HD sector not matching up" or something similar until I get rid of the partial file (actually, it took me a bit to realize it even left a partial file since I missed it when I was looking for it to the first time).

I was wondering if there could be an option to delete a partial WBFS file on an error condition when reading the disc like that.

I´m extremely tired (almost 1 a.m. over here) so please forgive me if this is answered but I tried to search and read but would like to be 100% before proceeding tomorrow.

I would like to play Wii Sports Resort and New Super Mario Bros tomorrow.

1. Is it correct that the newer versions of cfg usb loader has a "built in" fix for NSMB? No need to fix/patch retail iso-files anymore (got the pal release by Bahamut)? Just use WBFS manager and transfer the files?

2. Regarding Wii Sports Resort. Do I still need to use wiiscrubber and get the .dol file, rename and place on SD-card? Or is this also working automatically without any extra work in newer versions of cfg usb loader? Read something about removing the Sam & Max fix did the trick. Is that true?

Thank you very much everyone and good night

I don't know if this has been covered before either but if it has them please point me to the solution. I've been playing Wii Sports Resort for some time and then went on to other games. After a while I wanted to play it again and the game wouldn't load, it would just exit to the System Menu. I think a fix for some game must have deactivated something somewhere. I'm using v48 with the built-in NSMB fix.

Is anybody else having this problem?

The new versions have a built in fix for NSMB, no idea about Sports Resort.

1. there IS a patch for NSMB for both the PAL and NTSC version i think

2. i think you have to change the "alt-dol" option in the loader to get the game to work, but there is no need for using wiiscrubber.

The solution for playing Wii Sports Resort is to pop your original discs in and watch the video at the start of the game once. It will work in the loader again from then on.

Don't have original discs? Then figure out the other work around for yourself (besides, you've already been given the answer, and should have remembered it from when you first did it anyway).

Ease up, man. Why so aggro?

Using the alternate dol from the disc is what I did the first time to get it running. After playing it a while I didn't know I was going to have to do it all over again. Oh well, thx for the quick reply tho.

When you change the alternate dol for a game... press 2 to save. You won't have to do it all over again.

Does configurable usb loader load .wip patches on the fly already? Or is doing that planned?

It works great on NeoGamma and is a better solution for games like New Super Mario Bros in my eyes, because:
- It can be updated without a loader update
- The patches can be applied to .isos if you want(easily with Generic Wii Patcher, or with a Hexeditor for Linux people)

And i chose .wip because it already exists and is human readable and writable.

PS: What libogc are you using? If you have code dump problems or memory problems with it, try my modified libogc:

Yet another update to Simple WBFS File Manager to version 2.2.0.0

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=KBK06WQ2
Updated to 2.3.0.0 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=AKDDEIS1

Added yet more error checking
Added re-split .wbfs to/from 4gb/2gb
Added option to delete .iso/.wbfs files
Added option to delete games from WBFS partition
Added region display for .wbfs, .iso, and WBFS partition games (16 known region codes, anything else is displayed as Other)
Added option to create 2gb/4gb split .wbfs from .iso
Added some error message display for certain items if they fail
Added confirmation prompts for delete and re-split functions
Added titles.txt download and use to display titles
Added a spiffy splash screen
smile.gif

Fixed bug in the create info file routine that would fail if there was a space in the directory name
Fixed minor non-critical errors such as incorrect spelling
Changed some wording in certain menus to be more clear
Fixed stupid error where an error message would pop up behind the program and could not be clicked

A few other minor things i'm too tired to remember
smile.gif

Still to come, multi-file processing. So you can extract/convert multiple games with one command. Yes I know its a pain to work with one file at a time, I'm working on it

.wip is planned

we're using libogc 1.7.1 and have no code dump problems, at least none that i know of.

The Conduit is loaded fine and playable as per normal, but with Oricana turned on, it cannot be loaded, black screen. Tried on Hermas and Wanikoko cIOS, it's the same. Turn off Oricana, the game can be loaded fine again. Any more details that I need to provide? On a 4.1U system using NTSC-U version of the game, in a WBFS partitioned drive.
